SUNDAY 7TH MARCH 2PM KO
WOMENS SUPER LEAGUE
MAN CITY WOMEN 1 EVERTON WOMEN 0

Everton after that Excellent away win at Spurs last week were now playing another 2 away games in the space of 4 days, the 1st of which could not be much harder from an Everton point of view, against a City team that Everton like against most of the big 3 in the league seem to have a mental block against, they were trying to break a 15 game losing streak dating back many years, while Everton have also conceeded 3 or more 8 of the last 9 games all comps, City have won the last 8 WSL Games in a row since they beat us at Walton parkin early december and are unbeaten in 11 WSL games as well as been 2 points off top

Everton made 3 changes to the starting line to from the spurs game with Stringer, Emslie and the ineligible Jill scott on loan from Man City missing out and been replaced by Lucy Graham for her 1st start in 4 since that Man utd game in late January, while Maéva Clemaron made her 1st start in 5 since the home win v Bristol City, with the Returning Gabby George also making her 1st start since the 2-2 spurs game in Feb last year after suffering that bad ACL Injury

Everton were playing it seemed like a 5-4-1 off the ball. while 3-5-2 with it, the 1st 10mins was pretty much all City having the ball with Everton defending well, but no chances for either though Everton were trying to catch city out a few times but been caught offside each time, on 16mins Everton had half a chance after a Great break by Sorensen as she went down the right. She cut the ball back to Gauvin, the striker dummies it but there's no one there to pick up the ball in a yellow shirt and City cleared, when a control and shot was the better chance, up to the 26th minute the game was pretty even with no real chances up to this point were City should have gone 1-0 up when Caroline Weir's free-kick deflected off the wall and Sam Mewis yards out was there to tap in what should have been a certain goal, but somehow she shot wide, Luck with have it that Everton suffered 2 Injurys in less than 15mins with Raso been the 2nd of them to come on with Everton having no defenders and been then used in the right wing back role, but half time came and the game was even in terms of the score with Everton defending magnificently with that only City open goal been the only big chance for City while Everton have had no real chances and the keepers having no saves to make.

The 2nd half began with Ex Toffee Chloe Kelly dinking a ball into the six yard area but MacIver punched clear.on 49misn Kelly had a shot well blocked while on 58mins Kelly crossed to White at the front post but she headed wide for a chance that was never really causing any trouble, another little bit of a chance came on 61mins for City when Ellen White through on goal on the right fired her shot across the goal and wide. but still Everton were defending so well with 20mins left forcing City into a double sub, Everton going by stats had not even had a shot or anything but had been a little unlucky with a few breakaways breaking down, Everton began to look a bit more lively going forward and in typical fashion as they did they conceeded with 9mins left when Hemp brook down the right, pulled the ball back for Walsh who strides towards the edge of the box and curled one in the far corner. But the game ended 1-0 Man City in a game Everton defended so well and were unlucky not to grap a point but it meant it added to another defeat v City making it 16 in a row while Everton stayed in 5th place a position they will be in on wednesday no matter what the result, That Next game for Everton women is away to Birmingham women wednesday night with a 7pm kick off

Midfielder Lucy Graham has signed a new contract with Everton, penning a deal until the end of June 2023.

The Scotland international joined Everton in summer 2019 and was swiftly instilled as the Blues’ on-field skipper, working alongside Club captain Dan Turner as part of a new leadership structure.

A skilful, energetic and technically accomplished midfield player, Graham enjoyed an excellent debut season in 2019/20, scoring six goals in 22 appearances in a campaign shortened due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

She hit a memorable long-range winner in Everton’s 1-0 Merseyside derby victory in front of more than 23,500 fans at Anfield and was an integral part of the side that reached the 2020 FA Cup final.

Graham, 24, has continued to be a key figure for Everton in 2020/21 as the Blues have consistently battled it out in the WSL top six.

“The Club has treated me in such a way since I’ve been here that it made signing a new contract an easy decision,” Graham told evertonfc.com.

“When you look at the direction we are going in and the ambition Everton has, it is inspiring for me to be part of this club

“We want to push on to new levels and I’m so excited about what we can achieve. We want to do better every season, which we are doing. We are well on track and I feel we are only scratching the surface of our potential.

"Domestically, we want to compete with the best sides and try to win silverware and, of course, one of our big targets will be to qualify for Europe.”

Everton manager Willie Kirk added: “I'm delighted Lucy has signed a contract extension.

“I signed her at the earliest opportunity after I came to the Club and she hasn't disappointed. I made her a very young team captain as soon as she arrived and she met that responsibility head on from day one.

“She leads well on and off the park. She is always respectful, always logical and shows humility.

“On the pitch, her assists and goals record is very good for a midfielder – and a large majority of those goal involvements have come at very important times. The ones that immediately spring to mind are the winner against Liverpool at Anfield and the equaliser against Chelsea in the FA Cup quarter-final at Goodison Park.

“Her development as a player is in line with the development of the team. The exciting thing for me is she is now being pushed every day for her place in the starting XI and this is improving her all the time.

“I'm looking forward to continuing our work together.

Everton were going 3rd time lucky for this game to go ahead away at Birmingham after the previous 2 games there were both called off with a few hours to kick off for waterlogged Pitches, there would be no problems this time though as the WSL has forced Birmingham women to play their games at the FA's own St George's Park for their 3rd "home" game in a row, Everton after a very good defensive team performance v Man City at the weekend were looking to get back to winning ways and win at Birmingham a team that had no home win since the 27th October 2019-That came v Liverpool and have lost 4 and drew 3 of their last 7 wsl games, while at home they have lost 8 and drew 2 from last 10, Everton off course won 3-0 at Birmingham in the semi final's of the Women's FA Cup, a win would keep Everton 5th a place that looks like it will be were they finish unless they go on a bad run of form as they are 7 points behind 4th with 7 games to go, This game come's after both side's met each other in a 1-1 draw just 4 games ago at Walton Park in what was actually Everton's last home game after tonight match been the 4th successive away game

Everton made 5 changes to the Man City game with Graham, Sorensen, George, Turner to bench and wold out were enforced changes, into the starting line up came Lehmann, Emslie, Pattinson, Scott, Raso,

The 1st 9mins were pretty even with no shots from either till a through ball from Christie Murray off Birmingham on 10mins had Ex Toffee Claudia Walker and Sandy MacIver receive treatment after a collision outside the area. That collision led to Maclver been subbed for Korpela in what turned out to be a 9 minute delay, the game was a lot of stop/start the 1st 33mins with not a lot happening to say the least, but on 36mins the deadlock was broken when Raso who was once again was playing right wing back broke down the right and played a great ball into the area for the Returning Jill Scott to finish 1st time superbly for her 2nd goal in 2 games, it should have been 1-1 on 39mins though when Claudia Walker played the ball through to Jamie Lee Napier but her shot went wide when it should have been in, But Everton made Birmingham pay for that miss when on 45mins Alisha Lehmann headed home another super cross from the right this time from Claire Emslie for her 1st Everton goal, it could have been 3 in the 9mins of Injury Time when Jill scott hit the underside of the bar in what would have been a Quality goal, Everton finished the half very strong and showed their class with the half time score 2-0 Everton

Everton began the 2nd half as they finished the 1st and they went 3-0 up on 50mins when Claire Emlsie scored a great Quality lob after a big error by the Birmingham keeper Hannah Hampton, Scottish International Emslie still had a lot to do though, Lehmann then had a long range shot easy for the keeper on 57mins, Izzy Christiansen then had a shot over on 61mins,it became 4-0 on 88mins when Sub Simone Magill scored another Quality Everton goal on 88mins with a sensational shot, this was Birmingham's 3rd home game in a row of losing 4-0 but Everton were Quality overall and are 6 points above 6th place, in effect 7 with goal difference but it was all very comfortable for Everton who had no shots on target v them the whole game, in a strange stat going back many years it was also Birmingham's 1st home midweek defeat in 13 games, but it was Everton's night with truly Quality goals all night and they kept a 1st clean sheet in 6 games ,the last one also comming in a 4-0 home win v Bristol City

Cheers for posting mate. 3rd and 4th goals were a thing of beauty but the 1st is superb with Raso with a boss run and a cracking finish from Scott and the 2nd is a fantastic header by Lehman, glad she's up and running now as well.

On another note, I honestly think our away kit is the best kit on the planet by some distance!

FA statement re: Olympic selection phone calls earlier this evening. "We apologise to the players and clubs concerned, and will also do so personally. The timing of the correspondence was an error but we take full responsibility for the upset this has caused.

It seems like they didnt know there was a WSL Game happening 90mins later, This came after 2 Everton players were given good news and 2 were given bad news personally before the Clubs were even informed, while Birmingham boss Carla Ward said Hannah Hampton needed consoling before kick-off,she also said she made errors for 3 goals which is not true, maybe the last 2 but still took great finish's to score

For all the advancements in the women’s game the keepers are not getting even remotely close to useful. So confusing.
