Not open for further replies.
Both Highlights dont show half the amount of chances Chelsea had, while The Everton keeper Korpela made many saves that kept Everton in the game,
Everton should have been 3 or 4 down at HT - but hard to beat a team who are unbeaten in 37 away league games in 4 years,
The next game is Sunday march 28th were its Brighton in 6th with 4 wins in a row v Everton in 5th who are 4 points above Brighton - its a 12.30ko

Little disappointed actually, but only cos the news I heard was that it was on the BBC, with no mention of Sky. Was hoping their be plenty of our games available for free. Seems that might not be the case tho :(

SUNDAY 28TH MARCH 12.30PM KO
WOMENS SUPER LEAGUE
BRIGHTON WOMEN 0 EVERTON WOMEN 5

Everton Women came into game in 5th place 4 points above their opponent's in 6th place knowing that a win would almost but not quite yet Grantee 5th place, while they would also be 8 points above 7th placed Reading with only 4 games left of the WSL Season. It would be far from easy though for Everton as Brighton after not having 2 successive wins in 49 games had now gained 4 wins in a row in the WSL with the last 3 of them been without conceeding, While Everton were looking for their 3rd away win in 4 games, but Everton had failed to win or even score in the only 2 previous away trips to Brighton suffering a 1-0 reverse the last time here in Early Feb last year, while the away game before that was a 0-0.

Everton made 3 changes from the team that were beat 11 days ago to Chelsea with Stringer, Wold and Pattinson comming in for George, Sorensen and Graham who were all on the bench, Keeper Maclver returned to the bench after Injury but Korpela kept his place for her excellent display v Chelsea while their was also no Gauvin today in the Squad

It was a lively start in the 1st 10mins with the game going end to end with no real chances of note, though Raso had a shot that looped up into the keepers arm's after been blocked from the edge of the box on 9mins, on 16mins Claire Emslie went on an incredible run at speed from the Everton left to the Brighton area but a bobble on the pitch nearly made a mess of that run, but she got her cross in low with it comming to Raso who had her shot blocked by Brighton Midfielder Megan Connolly, on 21mins Claire Emslie had a free kick from the edge of the 18 yard box fly over, but on 23mins Everton did go 1 up after looking a bit more dangerous in the final 3rd when they were awarded a pen after brilliant persistent by Aus superstar Hayley Raso who was sandwiched between keeper and defender after not giving up, up steped Izzy christiansen to score her 5th goal of the season and score Everton's 4th pen of the season, though the keeper went the right way, it became 2-0 Everton on 25mins when Hayley Raso scored a quite Brilliant solo run goal for her 1st since she scored 2 in a 6-0 away win at villa in early October for her 3rd of the season, on 35mins Jill scott headed wide from a Izzy Christiansen corner, But Everton led 2-0 at half time in a more than deserved lead in an excellent overall half for Everton

The 2nd half began and t again started like a lot of the 1st half when it became 3-0 Everton on 48mins when Brighton did so much of the stuff i say i hate and that is play around and mess it up at the back, Claire Emslie won it and crossed for Raso to head home from under the Bar, it was nearly 4-0 on 50mins when Izzy Christiansen's delivery was defended towards goal by Brighton skipper Victoria Williams who almost put the ball in the back of her own net but the keeper got her fingertips to it and fumbled it into the air before she caught it, it became 4-0 on 63mins when Simone Magill claimed the goal after been bundled in after Everton created all kinds of problems, Sorensen then headed over on 73mins, Connolly for Brighton then had a snapshot on 76mins easy for Korpela but it was 5-0 Everton on 79mins when Hayley Raso completed her 1st Everton Hattrick after Sorensen's low cross was defended loose in the box and Raso finished, Brighton then hit the bar on 86mins when Aileen Whelan hit a shot against the bar,Lehamann then had a chance under pressure wide on 90mins but Everton went right down the other end and Raso was close again but her shot was high and wide, But it was a 5 star performance to destroy a team that had 4 wins in a row without conceeding the last 3 that leave's Everton on the brink of securing 5th place, which could come next week home to villa

Great win. Gives us a good buffer in 5th which I guess realistically was the best we could hope for this season.

Great win. Gives us a good buffer in 5th which I guess realistically was the best we could hope for this season.
5th was were i said-but hoped for a fight for 4th that has never really came, but the boss Willie Kirk has been saying he wanted top 3, which for me was very unrealistic when the top 3 has been the same for many years, now you have man utd up and comming, but next season i think we will have a fight for that 4th place, as i think the top 4 become's champions league places next season instead of the top 3, I am not 100% certain on that yet though

SUNDAY 4TH APRIL 1PM KO
WOMENS SUPER LEAGUE
EVERTON WOMEN 3 ASTON VILLA WOMEN 1

5th placed Everton women after that exceptional performance and big win at Brighton last week, had the chance to officially confirm 5th place today if they could beat the bottom placed Villa team who went bottom yesterday due to a surprise massive 5-0 west ham win at Reading and if Man Utd could win at Brighton. Everton were looking for their 1st home win in 4 v a team that they beat 6-0 away in early October which is their biggest WSL win to date with this being only the 2nd top flight game between the 2 after the last 3 wins Everton have had all came away-last time Everton had 3 wins away without an home win was 2012, Villa had lost their last 4 WSL games without scoring with the last team to do that been their neighbours Birmingham last year, while the last 3 meeting with Everton they have failed to score in the the last 3

Everton made 3 change's to the starting line up from the 5-0 Brighton win with MacIver, Graham and Lehmann comming in for Korpela, Stringer and Magill, Gauvin once again returned from Injury to the bench while the away game at villa is Gauvin's only full 90mins league game, also played the full 90 in the cup final, Rebecca welch was the 4th official the day before she will be the 1st women to be in charge of a an EFL game [Harrogate v Port Vale]

Everton have not won 2 games in a row since winning the 1st 4 league games, and on 6mins Everton wanted a pen when Raso's shot was blocked by a villa player with her hand but nothing was given, but the 1st 30mins were pretty even with not much happening bar that Raso shot, Everton were dominating the possession but not doing to much in the final 3rd but Claire Emslie blasted over from outside the box on 31mins, but Everton finally took the lead on 37mins when Captain Lucy Graham headed home though it may have came off her shoulder from close range for her 1st league goal since mid october and her 1st since the man utd cup win in mid December for her 6th in total after a super Izzy Christiansen cross, Everton then had a goal disallowed for offside right on half time when Alisha Lehmann flicked the ball on to Australia international Hayley Raso who taps home at the back post when if she left it it maybe would have counted, but it was 1-0 at Half Time

Everton were awarded a pen on 54mins after Olivia McLoughlin handled the ball, but villa keeper Lisa Weiss saved Lucy Graham's pen very well low down to her left, and Everton nearly payed for it 2 mins later when Sandy MacIver pulled off a great save to stop Freya Gregory shot after she had cut in from the wing she was making her first ever start in senior football, on 64mins Everton were awarded a 2nd pen when Sevecke was brought down by Jodie hutton who's swipe caught the Everton defender, Villa protested but up stepped Izzy Christiansen for the 2nd pen and this time there was no mistake with Izzy going the same way the 1st pen was saved,Sub Simone magill very nearly made it 3-0 on 76mins but the villa keeper made a super save but just 2mins later Magill did make it 3-0 on 78mins when Jill Scott's shot was blocked very well but with Magill stabbing it home, Villa got a consolation in Injury time when a villa free kick was headed home by Chloe Arthur on 94mins, but the final score ended 3-1 to Everton who cement 5th and will end 5th if man utd win at Brighton which is 1-0 to Brighton at Half time to gain only their 2nd win ina row since the 1st month of the season
