Geelong 133 Sydney Swans 52, the Cats win their 10th flag and first since 2011. Well done to the Cats and the two Irish guys in their team, former Carlton player Zach Tuohy and Mark O'Connor.

Mark could have won an all Ireland medal with Kerry this year if he stuck with the gaelic football, but he has an AFL winners medal with Geelong now.

He would have been a handy gaelic football player for Kerry, so it's better for Cork that he stays over in Australia! The Cats were the best team all year, and they deserve the flag no doubt about it.

I think @McBain is a Swans fan, so he'll be disappointed obviously. The Parramatta Eels are in the NRL grand final though. They last won a premiership in 1986, so hopefully they win this grand final!

Nah I could never support a team in red! I went down to the SCG to watch Swans and Giants this season and got fairly rat arsed. Was great had a lot of fun.

Eels fan since 1987 though, what a win!! We'll get bummed against the panthers but whatevs, we made it!

The GWS Giants have done fairly well since they came into the AFL 10 years ago. They did play in a grand final in 2019.

It doesn't many how many teams the AFL start up in Sydney though. New South Wales always was and always will be rugby league territory.

Ive seen most sports in the flesh, and even though the Afl produces some incredible athletes, it will always be a bit of a scruffy looking game.

At it's best in my opinion, AFL footy is very enjoyable to watch as a spectacle. I think for entertainment value, the sport was at it's best in the 80's and 90's though.

AFL footy has gone a bit more defensive and less entertaining, in more recent years i think. I tried to get into rugby league though before i gave up on it!

The way i see it between regular football, gaelic football, hurling, aussie rules football, and ice hockey, i've more than enough sports as it is on my plate tbh!lol

I know what you mean, but I absolutely love the physicality of the sport. I also love it when players knock the ball around quickly by hand, and the skill in kicking a goal from 50 metres. I’ve been in Australia for almost 20 years and it took me a good while to get my head around AFL, now I reckon it’s my second favourite sport to watch after footy.

I'm probably the opposite to you, I used to watch it a fair bit when I came out to Aus (probably helped that I go for the Swans and Plugger was in his prime), but just can't be bothered with it at all now. I just get so bored and frustrated with everything just being a long kick and hope your guy catches it rather than building up a play.

I think the last full game I watched was Sydney v Hawthorn in a final about 10 years ago

I think in terms of entertainment value, i'm of the opinion that North Melbourne in the 90's and the 1995 Carlton team played the most attractive style of football.

I still like the sport, but those two teams (along with the Carlton and Hawthorn teams of both the 70's and 80's) are my benchmark on how the game should be played. AFL footy has been on the decline slightly since the 90's in my opinion.
