The 5/4/2016 pro Martinez thread

To be fair about Kendall , he wasn't going anywhere until he shown how good he was in the transfer market and signed some too players for the team. Then it all clicked together from that point on.

Compared to Martinez who has signed more than enough players to do the same and hasn't.

Next season - No Lukaku. No Stones. No Mirallas.

We will have about £80+million from player sales. And probably another £30mill from the new investor. You're talking a £100mill kitty at least

Would you honestly want Martinez spending that money?

Well you must really hate this side, as at the moment it's one of the most uncomfortable, dishevelled and disorganised sides I've ever seen on the ball
Well it's really not. But as a few posters have said it would be nice to have a thread were people on both sides of argument have actually looked at the pros and cons in a sensible way

I would have no problem in giving RM any amount of money to spend. He has bought incredibly well.

The problem is that he is not building a winning team.

The team that won the cup I think was either inherited or they were considered gambles or rejects by a whole load of people.
He added a couple of great players after the cup win though.

I like the bloke but the fans have had enough. Sadly cannot see him being able to turn things round enough to get the fans back on board, a cup win notwithstanding. It hasn't been good enough really, and the negatives outweigh the positives considerably.

I can't win this argument as things stand, I know that.

But we have a semi final on the horizon and possibly a trophy in the cabinet to come.

It is not unthinkable we could totally kick on from there and become the best we could possibly be.

Fine margins have killed us this season and it's affected the players for sure.

A new season with finer tuning and momentum could see us absolutely destroy anything put in our way.

This is NOT a Mike Walker situation.

Appreciate this is a pro Bobby thread but you guys must be eternal optimists. Given our current form have we got any reason to believe that we currently have it within us to win the Fa cup? It will be so Everton to make two semi finals in the same season, when all the other big sides have dropped out like the parting of the waves, and then we go on to get knocked out by a dross side like manure.

The pros are we can beat the dross of the league comfortably. Yay. We did that before anyway, like. And before anyone goes "CUPS DOE LAD" we've been in cup semi finals several times over the past few years, so until we actually win one, nothing has improved

I didn't say we'd win it although I think we have a decent chance, my post was more phrased along the lines of even a cup win might not be enough to save him given his underperformance in the league over two years and the strength of feeling against him.

Eternal optimists to think we'll win a cup that we are probably joint favourites for at moment. And it's the nature of cups that you have a lot of good teams knocked out before semis

Where's the cons? Have you mentioned them before?

All teams can go through a bad patch .

What, imo, needs to be done is the manager has to reconstruct the team. The confidence level is low, I think the players expect to concede goals, expect to lose games and that is a hard mentality to lose.

The manager needs to rebuild a team based on not losing, forget about winning for a little while.
We have forward players like Deulofeu, Lukaku, Lennon and Barkley who can win a game for you on their own but a defensive spine needs to be put in place.
Maybe , we need to be a little dull, a little boring, a little safe, a lot more defensive.

Think teams can just forget how to win. I remember that being said by few older heads in early 80s and I didn't make much sense of it till now.
A handful of ground out wins against the odds would do them the world of good.

It's a positive thread right? Ok here I go.
Woohoo yes baby. Get down and boogie. Do a little dance, make a little love...get down tonight!
A two season bad patch. Woop woop!!
All teams go through them. So all is good and Roberto is just going through one. For two seasons.
Woohoo.
Phenomenal.
Get down!
