The Ashes 2013 Thread

Just waiting for someone to come in this thread and teach me what I need to know about this.

Like who the main players are and that.

Anyone?

Sorry Ijjy I've been sleeping and working, I'm a bit late into this thread! I'll do my best to keep you informed as we go.

Basically 5 tests, we only have to draw the series to retain the Ashes. Highly likely we're going to win at least 3 games though.

The Aussies are tosh batting wise, look out for Michael Clarke, their skipper and probably the best test batter in the world at the moment, otherwise they're proper Nani gash. Their bowlers aren't the worst though, Pattinson and Siddle will go well for them.

For England, obviously the big names Cook, Pieterson and Trott are going to have big summers, and Anderson and Swann are going to destroy their batsmen. Swann in particular will have a field day, they can't play spin.

In short, we're going to be far too strong for them!

FFS BML has written a far bosser preview. Well in mate. We're going to snot them in any event.

Has got a big 200 innings in him.
That's whats putting me off a 5-0.

Pietersen is the key. If he gets in and scores.. that will be a 200+ day..

anyway.. I don't like cricket...

He will score big. But that doesn't mean Australia will. He could easily get 180 and they'd be out for 300. Happened all last summer for them.

To be honest I could see 320-340 being very competitive first innings scores, both teams have some very good swing bowlers.

Thank god your posting...

Its not swing conditions here right now.. In my humble opinion, boring old ' Line & Length ' is the key ( Jimmy ).. with the odd 'nip' back.
Swann to bowl MANY overs...

the aussies pace attack is vey decent , it will need to be on the top of its game thou if the aussies r to get any thing

Most of the Aussie quicks will break down one game at a time anyway.

Yeah I'm really surprised conditions have turned dry so early, it does suit England though. Who's second test spinner? Not Monty...

Clarke will get in big on these sorts of wickets.

Hah, we'll see, I backed the Windies last month, that didn't work out too well!

Worries me that they might consider Bresnan full stop, just don't rate him as an international cricketer. Can see why he does so well at county level, but he has no x factor with bat or ball.

Dry tops that's interesting last ashes we where killed by swing in mos our matches. As an aussie the ones to watch out for are
Michael Clarke and chris Rodgers batting wise.

But our pace attack of Siddle Harris and Patterson will be very good all very accurate and smart bowlers

I like cricket when I'm actually at the match but I don't like watching it on TV

Weird that really

I like most sports regardless of whether I'm there or not but cricket is different for some reason. Maybe I'm more of a captive audience when I'm actually at the stadium?

We get glued to it Mikey. Start watching at 11am when I can, sit through the whole day, mates come over, then at 6pm get up off the couch and go to our own training. We get the Channel 9 coverage of the Aussie summer as well as our own, it's brilliant.

Isn't it the same for all sports? You are more involved in the stadium?

The reason is probably booze.
