Brainless play from dumb Yorkie Bairstow, particularly in a situation like this were every run and wicket is priceless.

Hilarious to see the Long Room getting stuck into the Aussies though. That will be talked about for years. Quality viewing!

Brilliant finish to the session from Stokes. What a afternoon of cricket we've potentially got in front of us now.

Agree , but if the umpire called over the ball is dead so he can't be out. On that basis the umpire can't have.
I hope England try to mankad the cheating convicts next game
I think it's a bit crap too but just putting my aussie hat on for a second I could say Duckett could have said "nah I'm out" yesterday. Not that I really think that though.

It was the 6th ball of the over, but the umpire had not called over - quite possibly because they saw that Carey had already thrown the ball straight back at the stumps?
Not defending it or the appeal, but Carey did it before Bairstow went walkabout
I think over should absolutely have been called in that case.

Clearly not. And certainly not Bairstow's decision to make ....
Absolutely was dead in my opinion. No chance whatsoever a run was being attempted.

The umpire never calls that a ball is now dead after every delivery. But you know when its dead or someone is actually trying to run. This was also the end if an over.

It’s unsportsmanlike in the extreme, but why even give them a sniff of anything like that if you’re Bairstow - might as well have handed them some sandpaper.

Great to see the ald tories giving them hell in the long room though!

Again not defending the appeal, but the ball wasn’t dead, the umpire can’t call over until in his view the ball is dead!
It’s not up to Bairstow to declare the ball is dead! The onus is on Bairstow to stay in his crease until the ball is “dead” and over has been called!

Could have been a plan if they've noticed bairstow walking around outside of his crease previously. The way he's walked down the pitch as its end of the over makes it look more dramatic I guess lol

I don't see what all the fuss is about. If your opponent goes wandering out of the crease whilst the ball is in play then you are entitled to try for a run out.

I would have tried it...
Nah , it's just wrong.
Remember when Arsenal, Kanu I think ,l scored a goal after not returning the ball from a throw in when the opposition put the ball out for an injury.
Wenger offered Sheffield U a replay .
I also recall Bielsa quite properly allowed the opponents to walk the ball in from the kick off to negate a goal scored in similar circumstances. cheating should never be allowed to triumph.
