If they knew the rain was coming why not take lunch like now and play longer before. Cricket needs to rethink all this as it's absolutely stupid
No control as his hand came down it hit his knee = a dropped catch a bigberror by Stokes end of ....FFS, he jumped , caught the ball one handed and in landing his right hand with the ball in it caught his knee/thigh and dislodged the ball. That made it a dropped catch.
Don’t forget Starc also grounded the ball for his not out catch
Do they have to play 98 overs, rather than stick to a 6.40pm finish? They might play until 7.30pm?If they get back on, there's gonna be so few overs left that the Aussies probably won't bother going for it. Hard to see a result unless it stops raining in the next few mins.
7.30 cut off I thinkDo they have to play 98 overs, rather than stick to a 6.40pm finish? They might play until 7.30pm?
Thanks Tim7.30 cut off I think
Or 15 more overs from 6.30 possibly. Light could become a problem as well.
this.11/2 the draw. Value in that, looking at the forecast tomorrow.
Re the Stokes 'catch/no catch.
All the time we see wicketkeepers instantly throw the ball in the air when they make a catch. The ball was in Stokes's hand for longer than with 'keepers. The ball was in his hand securely from the topmost part of his leap to when his hand came down and clipped his leg. More than long enough for it to be deemed 'under control'. It was not as if he did not catch it cleanly - he did. Gash decision to give 'not out'...
If Oz get their 30 overs, I think they'll go for it and do it.this.
Don't disagree with the above. I just consider that the ball was already secure in his hand when it collided with his knee...I think the difference with Keepers is that they do that when they are basically not moving, so the body is static and therefore deemed to be in control of the ball and body. Whereas with Stokes & Starc, they were still moving when the ball was dropped/touched the ground and therefore not in control.
Personally, if we are going to say Starc's is not out then Stokes is also not out. Correct decision, in regards to the interpretation of the laws.
EDIT: For what it is worth, I do not really like it when they throw the ball up straight away. Not sure where that came about but it just seems a bit silly.
