I’d have liked to see Curran mentioned more to be honest. Has something different about him and is a far better batter.
I trust in this England side though who know far better
Yeah the change of angle, plus he's one who likes the big moments. Feels a good fit but like you I'm a big advocate of what Stokes and Baz are doing. I know Agnew and other public school want them to fail so hopefully they shut them right up with a win at tory HQ in lords

My ratings for the women

Tammy Beaumont- 9/10 for first innings 208 passing Betty Snowball as highest English female test runscorer. Would have been 10 but should have pushed to drop down order for second innings.
Emma Lamb - 6. Women don't play enough tests to learn
Heather Knight (c) - 6. Useful 50 but perhaps not aggressive enough in field placings
Nat Sciver-Brunt - 5 Useful 78 in first innings but poor with ball and dropped a relatively simple C&B
Sophia Dunkley - 4 not a test player
Danii Wyatt - 8 two useful knocks but should have pushed to open second innings
Amy Jones - 4 glovework poor, batting worse. Time for a new face for T20s?
Sophie Eccleston- 8 took 10 wickets in match but should look at Gardiners 8 for. Batting poor
Kate Cross -7. Not an opening bowler but tried her best
Lauren Filer - 8 real find. Managed 77.6 mph but now needs Issy Wong to push her to 80
Lauren Bell - 6 The Shard was ineffective but good learning experience
Wouldn't disagree with much of that but
1. Ecclestone is a far better bowler than Gardner. The Australian has far better bowlers around her and didn't have to bowl a ridiculous 70 overs in the match
2. Can someone explain what Bell brings to the team. It is inexplicable that she was picked ahead of Wong.
3. The England bowling ( Ecclestone excepted ) was poor and fielding even worse.
4. Sadly the only players who would get in the Australia team are Beaumont and Ecclestone.

Tongue over Wood?

Don't get it myself. Very long tail as well now. No spinner is a big risk in a test against Australia. They will look to bat long and not take any risks so they can tire out the bowlers.

I would have had Woakes and Wood well above Tongue
Stokes says Wood wouldn't last 5 days

I wonder why Capsey was sent away long before the team was selected. I'm guessing fitness issues as she's quite a chunky lass. Been a better option than Dunkley though

yeah I like Capsey , she's got a great attittude and never looks intimidated. Most of this lot - Lamb , Dunkley , Jones looked terrified of the Aussie attack

Stokes must hate Woakes because if Wood wasn't fit enough, Woakes - given his Lords record - should have been a shoo in.
Think the team is weaker whereas Starc for Boland makes them stronger.

England will probably hammer them now
