The Ashes - Australia 2013/14

The Aussies bowl some dead tight channels and rarely throw down a boundary ball it has to be said. You could argue England should be attacking the bowling to change the lines and lengths, but they have zero confidence, it's easier said than done.

surely it's where coaches earn their corn to install confidence in them? australia came into the series having not won in the calendar year and off the back of a 3-0 loss to the same opponents, they were the ones down on confidence.

it's not this series though, it's been coming a mile off, haven't scored 400 in donkeys years and been scoring at a turgid 250 a day average i'd guess. It's not the type of batting which got us to the top of the rankings.

With Watson carrying a knock, Harris reported to be carrying an injury, that's the obvious tactic. As Beefy said Lyon isnt shane warne, you blast him out the attack, those other boys are working hard in the heat

I agree they should have a go, just can see why they're not. They're all playing for their spots at this stage, and a couple must be close to retiring. I think Flower and co have had the luxury of living off a lot of hard work done over the last 10 years.

I loved Andy Flower as a player, and he has done wonders for english cricket, but so did duncan fletcher and he had a shelf life like all managers/coaches. Though the thought of ashley giles taking over doesnt really thrill me

Need to go totally away from any current coaches, system needs shaking up, it's worked well for a number of years but it's time to move on. You'd love to get someone like Gary Kisten in as head coach.

oh god yes. giles would be attrocious. Vaughan made a great captain and was a great thinker, never liked him as a player, but i think he's be great in some sort of coaching capacity. They do need to shake things up though, it's a new era.

3-1, they're scared of Johnson ffs, get Piers Morgan in there!

at least he protected his wicket with his body ffs, every cricketer should cherish his wicket, these lot can't be arsed.

has lyon actually got a wicket with a good ball yet? they all seem to be shocking shots

pretty brainless shot that. hitting into the wind? not his fault everyone else has been absolute ****e like, but probably shouldn't have tried to take a man on the boundary into the wind on.

I reckon he bowls alright ya know, bit of turn, lots of bounce, more likely to take wickets too when you're worried about what's being bowled at the other end.
