I guess it's been a very effective ball. The difference between the two attacks has been 10mph, across all of the bowlers. That's a lot when you have less than half a second to make a decision.

If someone like KP or Prior had just started playing a few big shots at him from the first test onwards and came off, he wouldn't even be playing by the 3rd test, he's a confidence bowler, we let him settle, and now he's in the form of his life. We needed to show initiate against him and sat back and let him build, a bit of a shame, I thought KP would have been all over him.

Yeah, weve made him look like wasim akram here, he's decent when in rhythm, and weve allowed him that, while he boosts his stats with tailenders and all, Harris is by far the star of the attack for me
 
early days for Rankin, but doesnt really look the part so far, not sure why weve got this tactic of only giving Broad 3 overs no matter what the situation with the new ball, well he's just this minute come back and got clarke, he's done okay this tour Broad
 
So when we lose all our wickets this innings it will be the first time in history that England have lost all 50 wickets in an ashes series.
 
This is how to play Johnson. Leave the wide ones, play positives strokes at the ones around the wicket. Don't waft your bat, even when defending, come forward onto the ball.

Ah.

And still contrived to lose? I remember listening to Talksport every morning on my drive into work and Jack Bannister was on the verge of suicide during that series.

Never liked Bannister, he had his favourites, yeah I remember that game, we were in a decent position, probably declared too early with hindsight, Giles dropped a dolly of Ponting when we had them on the ropes and they turned it around
 

Bell should have stayed 5, those who think they know keep banging on about him batting higher up, but he scores runs at 5, he's one of the best in the world at 5, it's a totally different role. Be like playing Baines up front just because he's ace.
