Contribute some sense to the threrad or leave it alone.Every day you somehow know less about football. It’s quite impressive I must say.
As MOTD pointed out last night, he started the rot off when we conceded by deserting his position: that made Branthwaite move out of his central position to fill the space Gueye was in with Young and the cross comes in from that and we're all over the place in the 6 yard box.
Gueye was an asset last season and can be again though. Just needs to get up to speed. Also, Onana has zero discipline so maybe he's affected by him.

That's my point about Gueye and Onana: they dont sit right. It's not a natural partnership. You cant have that when Onana does his own thing.I thought Gueye in the main was awful last season. Him and Onana have absolutely NOTHING when it comes to a partnership or offering anything like the kind of midfield we need.
If we had any strength in depth, I'd bench the pair of them for the foreseeable

Gueye was our best player last season IMO. His tacking and interception was right up there. Opinions I suppose.
The narrow play out wide cost us the game yesterday, as it gave Wolves room to run them channels. How on Earth did someone not close their winger down though? There were about four of our players in close proximity, particulalry Ashley Young.Garner can’t track a winger so no idea why people think a few games against Azerbaijan U21’s at right-back qualifies him. He’s our best midfielder so needs to play there.
The tactics are ruining the back 4 not the players necessarily. This narrow stuff is god awful. Although I would have Mykolenko in over Young (who could play right wing) as he’s better defensively.
Garner - Tarkowski - Branthwaite - McNeil
Harrison - Gana - Onana - Danjuma
Iwobi
Beto
I agree, they don't fit in their current positions. Idrissa is not, and never has been, a proper defensive midfielder, as he challenges space and will chase down further forwards. Onana plays as the holding midfielder for Belgium, but has never been played in that role for us. I think part of the problem has been the need to throw him forward for the long ball from Pickford as our strikers would not challenge, but with Beto or DCL playing, this should not be necessary. I would prefer Garner playing in front of Onana, probably in a 4-3-3, but who else to play in our midfield with them? Not keen on Idrissa or Doucoure there, but I think Dwight could do it.That's my point about Gueye and Onana: they dont sit right. It's not a natural partnership. I see something.I'm not seeing anything at all with Onana, I don't see anywhere near enough of him through the game. I don't know what his role is, I don't think he actually knows either. He flits in and out of a game like you'd expect a number 10 would, where they have magic moments then long spells without doing anything. Problem is, he's not our number 10, he's supposed to be a midfielder yet I see players running by him time after time.
