The bending of PSR rules

In my opinion it's ridiculous.

Every single poster on this forum could all be in unanimous agreement that Minteh was worth £1.

However, if Everton and Newcastle both agree £40m is a fair price for themselves that's what matters.

THE PL regulating transfers as well now? Might aswell jump the first flight to Pyongnang, probably have more freedom and flexibility there, than under Masters PL reign of terror.

Meanwhile in corruption HQ, Masters receives a very troubling phone call...

What do you mean we can't punish Everton again for PSR? They swapped a player with Aston Villa? For how much? 9 million! Blatant cheating, that would have been the British record transfer fee...in 1995! Sir Jim isn't going to be happy about this, I promised him he'd have Branthwaite for £2.75 and a freddo bar.

Arghhhh I hate Everton.

The other thing is this sort of thing regulates itself anyway, because you pay a 4% transfer levy to the PL for every transfer. So you're not going to inflate a 5m player to a 25m player or something silly, because it would cost you a million in levy. So you might go to the top end of reasonable value (as arguably us and Villa and us have done) but you're not going to go tonto.

It's also the reason you HAVE to apply a valuation to each player in a player swap, you can't register it as a straight swap even if you want to because then you'd circumvent the levy. So they simultaneously DEMAND you treat a swap as two transactions, but somehow don't like it when you do.

It’s right there in the small print then.

They wanted us to sell Branthwaite because he goes for a larger fee than Dobbin, therefore their 4% fee is bigger.

Follow the money, and you’ll always find your answer.

Talking about tedious, this top heavy Premier League war on Everton is getting really tiresome. I think Everton for the first time in years have started acting like grown ups, and it's causing a bit of a stir. God knows why what they got to be scared of? Little old Everton. Standing up to the might of Manchester United.

That's not on, is it? In comes Richard Masters right on cue.

The most ridiculous. Let the sky 6 get away with everything, but the second the “smaller” (not really though given both Everton and Villa are most successful than Spurs, and would be more successful than City had the league not given them carte-blanche to take the mick) clubs try and get around the excessively harsh restrictions imposed on them which are completely biased is a joke.

That’s disappointing. Clear as day now they’re getting a few quid to post the owners agenda. Shameless.

We don't raise these things for the sake of it

There are a number of Evertonians who think everyone has it in for us. I'm not subscribing to that. But what I do think (and not including Matt Slater as he does proper journalism and you can tell that from his writing ... whereas at the Athletic some like O'Keefe are definitely worse for client journalism than others)

at the Athletic and there are publications like them they are definitely engaging in client journalism where they publish what their key stakeholders (clubs) want them to publish in terms of narratives

It is weaponised constantly. As people have seen over PSR this week, and Man Utd are instigating it clear as day and why it got so much traction

People should just stand back and think about what they're saying in these publications and why. No need to go attacking them ....

But clearly we disregard the narrative/agenda that is being put forward about Everton and PSR and these transfers as it is nonsense

How the hell can they claim what we have done is "fraudulent"? Better yet prove it should be our attitude

I guess with new American owners, we will end up in court to sue them for libel.

Americans are litigation happy, we should be sending the PL cease and desist letters.

It’s ridiculous on so many levels , firstly it feels so outrageously targeted. Secondly the prices don’t seem particularly inflated . Also in the world of transfers surely things are so variable , if you really want a player then you pay over the odds for them don’t you ? How on earth do you police that , I’m sure we can all think of transfers involving Everton but other clubs as well we’re the buyer pays over the odds to make it happen .

Ridiculous

You’re right, it’s literally supply and demand between some of the richest companies in the world, how on earth do you police that?

Imagine an unregulated Saudi club says ‘I heard De Bruyne is open to coming over at end of contract but I want him now?’
City say ‘he’s not for sale right now’
Saudi club say ‘how about £500m for your aging asset with one year left on their contract who doesn’t look like signing another one’
City sell him way above his true value
That’s an absurd sale way beyond market value but its still not illegal if the buying club value the asset there.
