The best/most interesting car you’ve ever owned

Been sat ages, water in the brake lines.
when we went for a drive the brakes were ok, but you should change your brake fluid every now andnthen because its Hydroscopic
When you said 'nah, not for me' what was his next move?
No problems, fair enough, shake hands, off we go our separate ways
Also, a pish take to muck you around and make you wait.
Nah I think he was just disorganised
Was he old enough to have a daughter in university?
Easily, but an 18yr old girl with a big 'koff Jag as a runaround... 🤔
Did you get a pic of the car all the same?
Yep, I took a circuit with the phone while I waited.

Did he get a pic of the daughter ?

Wouldn't want one if she took after him for looks

The body work was immaculate for a 30 yr old car.
Besides the Road Tax problems (which could see me in for another aud1000 and the aircon / ventilation thing.
The central locking was iffy, the rear door handles wouldn't work...not a big job just time consuming and fiddly
The bonnet wouldn't stay up.
all in all close but no cigar

Not my parking btw

@chrismpw

could have been hers then?

Edit; just re read that
Probably her Dads

('Could've' been hers, all thing's are possible.
*puts on syd sexist head* there was not one Indication, hint or even smell of previous driver gender
It was Gender Neutral
So who  knows cares)
Are you going to keep an eye on it and see if he drops the price? What was he asking and where would it be definite value?

Not that I can prove or disprove it either way but he did mention 'in passing' that it has been up for aud10,000, now 6,600.
Im over it, The 'must have a new toy' virus seems to have run its course now, but like Malaria, it will re appear
Edit; as to value; ventilation heater air con at 100% aud6,600 is, IMO, a good price

What drew you to the Jag?
6600 aus dollars is £3387
Put the money down and extend the garage to avoid the musical chairs with cars problem down the line? If you have space that is.

I turn up at the specified time (9.00am Sunday) nobody in? and the car is parked round the corner??
I fire off a txt and get a reply; I'll be there in 20 if you can hang on - which I can.
I use the time to give the outside a good going over with the magnet not a bit of filler or rust to be found, it really did look as good as the picture.
I was able to get under and give all the floors, boot a good seeing to with the point of a screw driver solid.
So far so good.
Then the guy arrived proceeded to set off the BS meter, apparely it was his daughters who has gone to Uni.
🤔
Turns out he doesn't happen to have all this verifiable paperwork with him, nor is it in the car.
Oh, and we'll have to hurry because the road tax runs out on Thursday (in Queensland the rules of sale are convoluted and costly when a vehicle is sold un-taxed)

We finally get the key to work and get it, smells a bit damp, but we've had a shed load of rain recently, the only place I couldn't check was under the front window where the wipers are which has a plastic grille on it.
Took a while to start, oil pressure looked ok
Went for a drive - drives well, brakes sharp.
When you stop at the lights the oil pressure on the guage drops off to 5psi 🤔 ???
Couldn't get any of the ventilation or Aircon to work.
we played about with fuses and relays for a bit...(I've got a box of that shiz in my landrover  )
No go, IMO, the compressors knackered

Even though the body and price were reasonable...maybe for a reason?? In view of the registration and aircon hassles and costs I reluctantly walked away.

You did the right thing walking away.

Apart from all the other stuff, that oil pressure drop could be something very very expensive.

I’m nowhere near qualified to talk but an old Jag and oil pressure dropping sounds pretty terrifying. I bet a few people have seen it and that’s the reason he’s had to drop the price

Talking about cars…. I’m really enjoying watching wheeler dealers and Salvage hunters classic cars lately … just watched Drew buy a Triumph TR4 and get it restored
The wheeler dealers with Edd China is peak TV, I have zero recollection of watching it when it used to be on though which is odd because you’d think it would’ve been massive

Think it was on the 'men and motors' channel, a long time ago. It has aged quite poorly because it doesn't give a year of filming, so when they end up making a couple of grand on whatever car by the end of the show, checking current values of what are classic cars shows they've had some really expensive investments on their hands and let them go.
'Car sos' is similar, but I have a bit of trouble with the arsing around in the middle of the show which sandwiches the heart felt good cause stuff.

Back to WD, Ed and Mike fell out, and if you go and research the subject it all got VERY messy.

Oh yeah I’ve read about it and there was some fall out. It was never the same after he left

I didn't mind Ant (even though he's former plod) and totally understood his staying stateside to support his pretty and tv successful wife. Don't mind Elvis neither. It's a bit like tv heroin, it exists to just float alongside of. Obviously the Lambo and Noble episodes stick out as especially notable.

Yeah, the bad blood on them parting ways. An accidental institution, and as always some took sides in a social media age...
