The best/most interesting car you’ve ever owned

My car history is pretty dull.

Passed my test in about 2002, my dad bought me a H reg white Nissan Micra with a blue cat sticker on the side that all my mates would rip me about. Somebody tried to steal it from outside the house, got about 30 yards away and decided it wasn’t worth it so just left it in the middle of the road. It got wrote off cos they’d bent the door back and deemed it would cost more to fix then cost of the car 😂.

My dad got me a new car, a G reg gold Nissan Micra. I was gutted. This had one old lady owner and was actually a very decent car.

My grandad worked in Ford so I got a couple of Fiestas and Focuses through their discount scheme.

Last car I had was a A4 estate. To be fair it was an absolute rasper. 2 litre 190bhp diesel. Had a black package or something on it and literally had every option you could think of. Mrs bluerob got put out of work in lockdown so I got rid of it to save us some Money and now we just share a car. She works from home and I only use it to play golf which drives her mad.

Funny story about her car though, she had 2 cars prior to it, each less then 6 months old. Both got wrote off by 2 different Nigerian gents at the same junction on Queens drive by the Walton Asda within about 4 months of each other

Go on then, let's drill down into this.

Haha, well I wanted an odd car. I really hated Multiplas back then.

Increased HP to 160 HP, new tyres with rims, new racing suspensions, improved transmission, some new painting, but like with most old Fiats, the rust is a big problem. I was fed up at one point, it was more at repair than anything and my kids got born. Must have gone scrapyard or Africa at one point.

But I've never been addressed as much as back then.

My first car was a Yugo Zastava, my dad was a car dealer and he picked it up for a song. It did things like dim the lights when you put the wipers on, you couldn't touch the gear stick after five minutes because of the heat and occasionally it smelt of burning fibre glass.

Loved that car, even when it melted cassettes in the player.

Driving a Skoda Rapid now, efficient, practical but with none of the "are we going to die in a ball of flame" romance of my first car.
