The blame game

Yes it was ridiculous then too and a reflection on what a bad owner Moshiri has been, as you say he pays him handsomely, but he obviously think is he is doing a good job since he has made no effort to remove him

No-one is saying he hasn't been a bad owner. He is the absent landlord. Maybe part of the original sale meant he was contractually obliged to keep him as Chairman till stadium was built.... maybe he had no interest in the running of the club..... no-one knows. None of which precludes the failings of Kenwright over decades.... and as the man who actually sold to Moshiri too. He is either responsible, complicit or both in the current state of affairs.

the rot had already well set in, its been the mismanagement and spending previously that has done to us not Lampard.
the players we bought and the expense of these players is staggering mismanagement especially the summer Kenwright bought Rooney, Koeman bought Klaasen and the DOF bought Sigurdsson.
28 million Bolaise
28 Million Klaasen
45 million Sigurdsson
25 million Schnederlein
35 million Iwobi
30 Million moise Kean
22 million Gbamin
28 million Mina
25 million Wlcott
25 million Tosun
28 million Michael Keane

and this doesn't include the Andre Gomes, Maupey, Delph, Onyekuru, Vlasic's of the world who all cost 10 plus million each

Poor recruitment and the lack of an all-encompassing vision for the structure of the team has 100% been the main problem

It all seemed so promising when Brands came onboard too

All roads point to Chairman Bill Kenwright.

Until that cancer is excised from the club, and until people grasp that nettle of truth, nothing will ever change at this club.

Relegation is his very fitting legacy.
All the time I was calling out the team as being the one constant during our downward spiral.
In actual fact it was hiding in plain sight and that of course was Boys Pen Bill.

It's difficult to de-couple Kenwright from Moyes.

Pre-Moyes (Walter Smith) we were mostly buying crap and getting worse.

It's speculation from me but I expect Moyes patient and careful spending over time, in combination with some clear direction for (broadly effective) safety-first football kept Everton in a decent spot - not much to do with Kenwright.

With the loss of Moyes the club started to deteriorate again without decent leadership and decision making - that clear vision Moyes had (even with the glass ceiling that frustrated us).

I guess Walsh and Brands were attempts to replace Moyes with a sports director but with a more ambitious brief (what fan would say no ?), given the Moshiri cash.

The Moyes foundations / scaffolding were swept away - his best players gradually aged (even Coleman still contributes more than most) and we were left with a vacuum - just a poorly assembled, expensive squad.

At this point...we are pretty much Sunderland - spent loads of cash on poor players and sinking into the Championship.

Kenwright chose (?) the wrong investor.

I think Moshiri has been bad, or badly advised - and Kenwright possibly tried to help out when things started going south....but is also pretty bad.

So we are left with.....putting our finger in the Dyche to stop the flood.

All on Moshiri. He should have brought in a professional Chief Executive from a successful football club and then left them the hell alone.
This thread has pretty much established its all on Moshiri, like you said, he should of poached a pro and successful Chief Executive.
And even if he didn't right away, seven years on, too late.

In no particular order
Kenwright
Big Bad Bill
W Kenwright Esq
The world's greatest living evertonian

Big bad billy bellend

And Keith Wyness and Ian Ross for old time's sake 👊🏻

It's primarily the absolutely clueless managers, useless DOF's but mainly the god awful players who shouldn't be allowed to wear our shirt even if they bought one in the club shop. We've seen so many gutless displays - which are unforgivable - but we have to face facts that 90% of the players we've bought over the last 5 years are simply not good enough and never were. NSNO ? Do me a favour. I fear it's all too late now - but I'm praying for a murcle.
