The Clear-out

What would you say is our affordable price, also what would you say DCL is worth?
Difficult to say but I would guess at somewhere between £50m and £70m based on Kean being £45m.

As to our affordable price, I have no idea what our summer budget is, but based on the amount of work that needs to be done to the squad I suspect it would be less than we would get for DCL.

Also, if we sold him, I’m not sure we could attract a top class player in their prime given our current position.

I’m torn on this.

I would love us to look at Championship players who are proper hungry for the next level / money.

Godfrey is ideal to show what’s available, years ago it was Timmy Cahill.

Thing is, Carlo may not be the man for that longer term job and i like having him as our manager.

So, we are faced with the dilemma of signing a few full on proper established players, who cost proper wages.

Ramsey and Bale wouldn’t surprise me in the slightest, and on that note, I’m proper legging it.

I fully get the call for young up and coming players in the mould of Godfrey, it’s a far more sensible way of doing business. That being said though, it was still James Rodriguez behind the big moments in our season, the good start, the assist at Anfield, the comeback at Old Trafford, the opener against Leicester.

My point is that quality still told. Even though it’s inconsistent and not always available, James at half pace was still a cut above anything else we have.

Lots more than that
Our whole midfield is inept. When you see Allan up against thos City midfield you see how poor he really is.
Godfrey cant defend properly at the top level.
Holgate simply not good enough
I could go on and on. I dont like this squad or these players
could not agree more wholeheartedly

With no Europe we need to focus on quality rather than quantity. Everyone not mentioned can go if offers come in.

Pickford / New GK / Virginia

New RB / Coleman
Keane / Mina
Godfrey / New CB or Branthwaite/Gibson
Digne / Nkounkou

Allan / Davies
Doucoure / New CM
James / Not sure

New Winger / Iwobi
DCL / New Striker
Richarlison / Gordon

I do agree, but striker is definitely an area we should be improving even if it’s back up, but I’d rather if we kept DCL he was back up striker.
My gut feeling is that most of the transfer funds for this summer will go into other areas. We are going to need another forward but we also need a right back, right wing probably a central midfielder and it looks as of the club is looking at centre back.

I’m pretty sure DCL will remain our front line CF and anyone else who comes in will be lower down the pecking order. It would cost an extraordinary amount to get a striker scoring more than DCL. I think what we will see is a winger who can cover forward positions.

Reality is that the clear out happens next summer when most of the real yard dogs leave on a Bosman.

We're now a year behind on ambition and need to aim to steady the ship and finish 5th/6th. Bring a few in, move anything we can other than the essential players on long-term deals, and finish mid-to-high-60s on points with a better, deeper squad and better injury luck.
