I watched Once Were Brothers. Very interesting.

Garth was the interesting character: a weird genius. The Brian Wilson of The Band.

Garth turned 86 last week. He’s been living in a nursing home back in Canada for a few years now. He has some kind of dementia but still plays keyboards.

One of my favourite guitarists. When he blows Clapton away in the Last Waltz and Clapton gives the look that he knows he been done.

For me, solo Clapton is a pale shadow of Cream Clapton. That’s just my opinion.

Although I have to say, his mid-2000s Robert Johnson thing is brilliant.

Yeah same Cream was the only decent stuff Clapton was involved in. The rest is just him on the coat tails of something else.

Loved all the Band albums. Some of their numbers really grew on you. Same with early Neil Young stuff.

His mealy mouthed 'apology' in his autobiography was gash, basically 'I was drinking a lot at the time and don't remember what I said but I'm not racist I've worked with black musicians and I love the blues' etc.
