The Esk and El Bobble

Esk made most of his riches moderating on an Everton fan forum, done pretty well out of it and now has a brownstone in lower Manhattan. El Nobble has a hat scarves badges stall outside Goodison and scratches a living.

I believe The Esk uses the Pseudonym for professional reasons. Believe it or not, podcasting isn't his full time gig.

As for calling out the club, those who he's calling out know exactly who he is.

Shareholder with some (maybe small) family history with the club. He goes by his first name and his pseudonym, so I suspect you're entirely right--those who know him know it's him, and he can still do business without this getting in the way.

Don’t know either of them so can’t speak to credentials. But did find it weird that The Esk said John Thornton was richer than Usmanov when there is almost zero information about him online. It would make him one of the richest owners in the league. How would there not be information out there of an American worth around $15bn?

Bobble clearly has contacts and passes stuff on in good faith when confirmed to him, seems sound

Esk is clearly a smart guy but trusted whatever source he had wayyy too much. I remember phoning my dad up saying we were buying Mata and Witsel and it was a done deal… made me look a right tit.

Because if you have access to that level of wealth and you want to keep quiet about it, you have access to the level of expertise needed in order to do a good job of keeping an extremely low profile. Bear in mind that once they reach a certain level, people with this kind of money go to great lengths simply to hide their true wealth. It's not a huge conceptual leap to accept than some will want to hide full stop.

As a kind of guide, try this out: grab the next copy of the Sunday Times rich list and see what you can find out about some of the genuinely rich folk you've never heard of. For every obnoxious attention-seeking Lewis Hamilton type, there's five billionaires who value the freedom that relative anonymity brings.
