The EU deal

It benefits no one to have tariffs imposed. As for the 3%. It may be only 3% for the German GDP however what % is it for their car industry. Are you really suggesting they will ignore their car industry and it's workers who would lose their jobs who are demanding a quick agreement?

I would imagine that we would continue on as if we are members of the EU (obviously with no say on anything) while new negotiations took place.
If a deal isn't in place within 2 years of notification to leave the EU, then the rules of trade laid down by the WTO come into play.

I know. What I am saying is that if a deal can't be done then they will agree to continue under the same conditions as if we were in the EU until a deal can be done.

Neither the EU or the UK will benefit or allow WTO rules on tariffs to be applied.

Why do the remain people believe that the EU holds all the cards and that their will must be obeyed...........

Not disputing the obvious, rational self-interest to protect Germany's car trade with the UK (around 1/5th of all cars produced there, if you're interested).

Just wondering how it balances that with its huge interest in the European project and the integrity of the single market (the one that benefits its own auto industry)? Just wondering what action Germany might take to stop other countries thinking it would be a good idea to leave and subsequently throw that market into disarray?

And what about the manufacturing side of things? And the import of components from our bezzies in the EU?

Pleased to know that it benefits no-one to have tariffs imposed - someone should tell the US and Japan (10% with their trade to the EU).

Their electorate and corporate leaders wouldn't allow them to play politics in that way.

There's also plenty of German politicians that think Britain is more trouble than it's worth and would be glad to see the back of us.
