The EU deal

Evening Jim how are you today,
Well thanks, you?

Also forgot to mention that we have always had our own unique currency, so there'd be no realignment needed there. Unlike if a eurozone country left the EU (tempers the financial uncertainty somewhat)

They can hire British workers to do that job. If they can't attract them due to the low wage then they should pay them more. That's a sign of country's progress not something we should be looking to reverse just so business owners can make more profit.

There aren't enough willing British workers to currently fill a lot of jobs. It's all very well to say raise the wages but where does that money magically come from? Address that issue and then you can afford to place further restrictions on economic immigration - but until then immigrants are needed to sustain a lot of industrys, especially health care & local authority work.

It's no good if it's not enforced.

But it is enforced. I've never strolled through a British airport with no checks. Why would anybody hide in the back of a truck for 2 days or cling to the axles of a moving vehicle if Border Control was not being enforced?

Nelson Mandela was a hero who fought for the freedom of his people, mate. He is a hero to many millions of people, both black and white. Anyone who tries to portray him as a terrorist exists on the very edges of the political spectrum. You have revealed yourself to be some dodgy extremist who should not be taken at all seriously.

Freedom fighter = terrorist.

Depends on how you define it. The ANC was deemed a terrorist organisation by the UN; just the same as ISIS are now. If ISIS get their way, would you be lauding al-baghdadi in the same way as mandela?

it's tragic that this outstanding personality has been widely misunderstood as predicting actual bloodshed in Britain, when in fact he had used the Aeneid quotation merely to communicate his own sense of foreboding.

He knew what he was doing, mate. He wasn't daft. He knew it was an inflammatory and provocative way of, erm, making a point. Dog whistle politics.

Yeah, because those British are lazy gets aren't they?

The language of the parasitical company owners and agencies, used to promote cheap imported labour and spread the myth that every UK citizen on the dole or in low-paid work is workshy.

And yet 1700 people applied for 8 jobs in costa coffee...All eastern Europeans, no doubt.

Unite had a great article in one of their newsletters about sports direct using cheap eastern European labour. And ignoring the local workforce.

Can't get the exact article up but you get the jist.

It's not just coming out for Brexit. That's just one part. Until recently anyone who spoke even mildly against immigration was branded a Racist. It's not that long ago that Brown did that to a woman he met during the election. If you think it's as socially acceptable to be in favor of Brexit as remain then you are simply wrong. If you think it doesn't have career implications you are wrong.

There's probably more foreigners who hate British people in this country.

If I'm 'simply wrong' why don't you colour that with some kind of scenario or example? I'm open to being proven wrong.

There's probably more foreigners who hate British people in this country.

Haha wow, that's surprising, but good to know - 'probably'....

My missus works in the care sector. Since she's worked in that role for around 10 years and tells me that it's difficult to fill roles for care assistants and the like they absolutely need to use immigrants - not because they are better qualified but because they simply can't get the numbers to cover otherwise. It's a hard, unpleasant job with a lot of responsibility and as such appeals to far fewer people than working in a coffee bar.

The whole economy of the country isn't based on jobs working socially friendly hours in a comfortable environment in the centre of a university city.

What does he care. He probably uses cheap labour himself to get his lawns done and that's far more important.

Haha - I'm in a job that's comfortably under the national average wage. I do my own lawn but don't let that stop you from making assumptions about somebody you don't know though.

For me, the most condensed argument I can give is that anyone who says they know what will happen when we leave is massively deluded or lying. The idea that we will be a great trading power again by default is fanciful. And the other arguments for leaving just aren't that well justified, for me.

So I think it's better to stay in and have a voice, even though there needs to be a lot of change.

None of the main campaigns have represented the argument well whatsoever, though. I think it's a very complicated matter, that doesn't warrant simple narratives/headlines - so people should listen to the experts & academics.

Sums it up perfectly

One crappy companies hiring policy at local level is hardly a case for the Brexit. Where in EU regulation does it say you can legally discriminate against the local workforce? I'd argue EU regulations on the matter directly oppose such policies.
