The EU deal

I think probably because, as demonstrated on these boards, it's becoming less and less a vote on the EU itself, and more and more a vote on whether to victimise migrants, either through stupid laws, or by rebuilding the empire.

Oh right.

Can he not campaign for his own reasons to leave the EU. Why would he be so petty over personal politics, when the countries future is at stake.

He should campaign to leave in the same way as Tony Benn did. Him and the Unions should be fully campaigning for us to leave after the Greece episode.

Nice attempt at deflection but it's not flying. Now back to the man of principle siding with bankers and Tories.

Very calculating....and very bad for fat chops Cameron

Cameron had no choice once he won the election. He never thought he would, and now has to have this vote.

I am nothing if not consistent. I argued for the UK in the referendum, (better as one), and although I am in no way an ardent Europhile/Federalist, my position is the same on this.

It aint brilliant the EU, but it is a billion miles away as being as bad as some would suggest it is.

Opening up a massive sore in the Tory Party too.
It's a calculated move on his behalf. He knows there are emotive subjects which the general populace are not happy with within the EU... immigration being THE major factor if we are to be honest. It could also massively backfire on him and ruin him politically if people vote with their heads and not their hearts.

That was more to do with Greece adopting the Euro, rather than being in the EU.

And Greece being an absolute basket case for years.

But not totally unrelated either.

Bloody complicated all this ffs.

I was referring to how they were treated mate. Quite disgustingly in my opinion.

Lets hope those issues, whilst not unimportant, especially to those more affected by them than I am, are down graded as the wider issues come to the fore.

For everyone's sake, I couldn't agree more.

Immigration is the number one issue for the British Public. I suspect it will be one of the big points in the leave campaign. It would be a mistake not to make it a selling point. (Controlling borders - not persecuting anyone)

It's undemocratic and committed to ever closer union despite what the proles might want. Just look at the times second referendums have been called when the first goes against Brussels wishes.

Oh sure, but because mainly down to the Euro.

Look, my position is pretty clear. The EU is, as the above post says, pretty undemocratic, pretty unaccountable, and also a pain in the backside at times. And cost a few bob.

But, despite all that, the good it does, and has done, means I would rather be on the train rather than waving at it.

I haven't really got a dog in this fight, tbh. Just going to enjoy the elite tearing themselves apart.

For me mate, I'd rather be in the life boat and not the sinking ship. lol

The muppets in this country will follow their Establishment blindly like the good serfs they are. I don't think that will necessarily scupper Johnson's leadership chances though. The majority of Tory members who vote in the elections will be solidly anti-EU. He could end up a martyr figure.
