The Everton Board Thread 2014/15

Is it time for change?

  • I'm happy with the way thing are. Kenwright and the Board should stay.

  • Kenwright and the board need to go. We need change.

Obviously we all want the next Sheik Mansour or Abramovich and all the glory hunting weapons that will be joining us if that occurs. However, that's 2 takeovers that have worked out for clubs in the Premier League.

Just 2.

We should get used to not being one of the super wealthy. We can bang on our board about a lot of things, but selling is an extremely risky proposition.

We will never be wealthy but if we have to sell to buy or we just sell are better players all the time which kenwright has done, we will never move forward

We need to stay exactly as we are; dont change because it's too scary. 5th-8th in the PL, keep on selling players and hope the right manager comes in to keep the plate spinning. It's in our DNA.

Bill Kewnright and fellow carpet baggers: 15 years at the club, achieved nothing, put nothing in, expect about 700% profit on their shares.

They should have been run out of town years ago and beaten with sticks.

I disagree that only 2 takeovers have been successful, success on the pitch doesnt always mirror success at Boardroom level.

Villas takeover has been a boardroom success, they have backed their Managers with vast sums of money to waste in the transfer market, Cardiff, Sunderland, QPR, Liverpool and West Ham all have new owners that are willing to invest into the playing side and have also seen the commercial side of their businesses grow.

Only City and Chelsea have take the Boardroom success onto the winning trophys aspect, but when you spend almost 2bn, you kinda expect things like that.

If Moyes would have had 100m to spend on players who know where we would be now, if Martinez had a Chairman that said to him "Go out there and spend some money Bobby, heres 100m" who knows how far we could go.
Oh I totally see that point and don't disagree, but success at the boardroom level also does not lead to success on the pitch, right?

Our board seem to do a decent job picking the right people to get us success on the pitch (hooray!) although they do not do a great job off the pitch (as I've been arguing for weeks now). My entire point is that selling for the sake of selling won't necessarily see us through to a better place. Which is why I like the idea of building the brand.

A massive brand can withstand a bad managerial appointment or a weak board for a time. A massive brand is self-righting. And while we may need new owners to get to that point, I don't think the way forward is to sell up to the first jarg businessman that wants a piece of the Prem pie. I'd rather not have a meddling owner that fires managers every 3 months for not achieving the CL yet.

TBF, the parasites in control of Everton have had 15 years to get this right. Plenty enough time to sort the 'jarg' from the genuine if the price was right in the first place.

I can agree with that.

My whole point to begin with was that some guy buying Sheffield Wednesday has absolutely 0 bearing on whether people are looking to buy a club like Everton. Or do you think the board should value Everton as cheaply as Sheffield Wednesday surely was?

I can be the best Rolls Royce salesman in the world, but if nobodywants to buy one then my skills are useless

You said that we have to sell to the right person; what if the right person has never come knocking?

If the right Person has never come knocking unless bk tells us we don't know like we don't know we're for sale

Thing is, Bill can find people when push comes to shove. The Greggs, and when Paul made a move to take control he brought in a favourite of Private Eye Chris Samuelson to make a bid with FSF. When the dust settles Robert Earl jumps on board, but soon disappears when DK collapses.

So, going by form Bill is not going to bring the right person to take the club forward. And, i doubt he would be the person to make a decision on who buys Everton.

they're totally different situations; he used his 'friends' to secure his position. Totally different from finding someone willing to pump £500m into a club

How is it different, everyone keeps saying he will only sell to the right people.

Do you see Robert Earl as a right person?? Does he have our clubs best interests at heart??
