We have progressed for sure, maybe not as fast as we wanted, but on thing we always have to keep in mind, is in the time that Kenwright has been in charge so many clubs have gone backwards. Apart from Man City, who have lost there soul and tradition, the list of people who have gone in at clubs and its all gone down hill for them is something we have to be glad we avoided.
Randy Lerner might of handed loads over to spend, which would of been nice, but aside from him we could of ended up in the place that Leeds United are in right now.

..and perhaps we might not....

Is this a new one, be thankful what you wished for you didn't get?

There has been no investment in the club under TBH, none, zip, zilch, nada, nothing. Everyone else seems to have since the tv income rose, infrastructure, background, stadium upgrades etc etc We put tents up in the car park...

Well everyone was demanding a marquee signing.

Nothing new in not wanting to be Portsmouth, we wanted their owners, and Blackburns, Forrests, QPR's and dozens of other duds, but they were all clueless.. yet spent some money. Poster was right to a degree, but we certainly shouldn't fear change. A new owner would make a huge difference, but he needs to either know football, or be willing to completely hand over the reigns to someone who does.

'We'?

We need a business savvy approach, football minded would be advantageous, but someone who can spot how to generate and maximise the potential of the club, we've never needed a City type takeover, someone who could spot the markets in the US after the world cup for example.

Bill's biggest fault is being one of us, as a supporter, could imagine him dreamy eyed 'selling' the club to an investor rather than highlight the potential for growth via investment, it's business more than ever, but he is too emotionally engaged and I believe that is what is blocking us.

I have felt like this too for several years until recently.. But I'm not convinced business savvy is the biggest requirement anymore...
I think recent TV deals are making chairman's wealth less and less of an issue , we are in the red, but it doesn't take a genius to get us back out again if needed.

Where a chairman will likely earn his worth now imo is not in the ability to front enough cash to overshadow the TV deals, FFP may even make that an impossibility, but instead to be able to pick good managers and provide them with the appropriate amount of freedom and funds to build and progress. Bills actually pretty good at that.

He's not good at the off field side of things though, and really needs to appoint someone who will get a ground move sorted, and improved sponsorship etc.

I think Bills timing has been very unlucky, he joined just when the millionaires became obsolete to the billionaires, and if rumours are true, is possibly going to be forced to retire on health reasons just as the billionaires are almost rendered irrelevant by the TV deals, which means that football intelligence and knowledge could become the key factor for a successful chairman.
