was mihir bose (bbc sports editor at the time) ever forced to retract this piece

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/e/everton/7532345.stm

BBC sports editor Mihir Bose believes Wyness's exit was prompted by retail tycoon Philip Green's involvement behind the scenes at Goodison Park.

"Although Green, one of the richest men in the country, is not formally connected to Everton, he has been involved in much of the Toffees' recent activity," said Bose.

"I understand the manager David Moyes has had to go to Green on his plans to buy and sell players, and also finalise his contract."

Green is a long-standing friend of Everton chairman Bill Kenwright and Robert Earl, who owns nearly 24% of Everton through a British Virgin Islands company.

Green confirmed his relationship with Kenwright, and speaking to Bose, he said: "Everybody knows I'm a friend of Bill Kenwright, and I helped him get Everton.

There's plenty of Green and Everton articles about...
Not talking about green really. Just that doubt that watched toffee would have any knowledge of a takeover. He's done alright in taking public financial records that the general fan base wouldn't wade through and putting the info out there. That being said I highly doubt he'd be itk to a South American takeover.

Just speculating, lol, but it could have something to do with this man.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sebastián_Piñera

Former President of Chile, billionaire, businessman, owned 100% of a state-wide TV channel, sold it to Time Warner, would be attracted by the TV money in the Premier League, Chile as we know has an Everton football team who we recently played, he owns/owned 13% of Colo-Colo, a football team.

Or South America could be a Smokescreen, and it could be the opposite...

I'm mentally unstable.

To deny Green's influence on Everton is putting your head firmly in the sand.
To be honest, I'm only surprised that his involvement appears to be informal rather than formal, from reading some of the above links.

I thought he was formally involved with the club. Just goes to show, eh?

How can this be when he is not a shareholder?
Good question

Erm - cos watched toffee says so and we believe everything he says cos he's great. :)
4 minutes...

OK so you're going down the route of PG having an interest in the shares of the club despite in your link he denies it. Problem is if you look back at the posts in this and other threads the reasons for this not being possible are given. look up either my own, the esk or a couple of others posts and you will see the reasons that it can't be so.
He seems to have a financial interest in either the shares or, personally, those that hold the shares. No-one posting on GOT has access to the information necessary to categorically deny or confirm that, but on the balance of media speculation in the public domain I'd guess he is involved.

To deny Green's influence on Everton is putting your head firmly in the sand.
Agreed
