We currently have owners who invest nothing.

We have owners who are happy to be average and don't want improvement.

We own practically nothing of our own, under these owners...

Our commercial deals have been absolutely awful.

we have..3.. failed stadium moves..

and none of our board have any business plans what's so ever.

So forgive me if i think that these people are actually better than what we have, because even if they are a bit shady it wouldn't take much at all to out do our current board.

If kenwright owned the pardes or whatever they probably would have ran him out the country.

Well when you put it like that..........

.......puts on 10 gallon hat and screams yeeehaaaw around the office

Probably worth reminding everyone that as things stand the only beneficiaries of any proposed deal at present are the current shareholders.

The critical part of any takeover is twofold, what are their ambitions for the team? And secondly what additional investment is going to be made in the club to meet those ambitions and the capital shortfall created by our current owners.

Until those questions are answered, there's little to discuss.

I feel as though a hard nosed business man is what this club needs to progress though. Someone with the business sense and connections to improve our commercial and marketing deals, refinance the club and invest in the infrastructure by means of a new stadium or redeveloped Goodison. That's what has been holding us back off the field.
Now the guy seems to have been successful in these areas while also bringing success to the team he ran so wouldn't be the end of the world IMO.
Whoever we bring in will have associated risks and potential positives to their ownership.
Not just disgruntled fans writing blogs but if you read up about these people and ask around there's seldom many who has a good word about them.

I agree with the need to twist than stick but @The Esk said it before I would be interested i their plans and to know if there's other feasible offers on the table like we've been led to believe.

They don't sound the best match and I wouldn't want to put Everton in long term jeopardy for short term boost. Even if we've got neither short term or long term boost now.

Let's not drop our knockers too easy, they're pulling up loads of flags.

Spot on.

Who's to say the shareholders will not just accept that best offer for them and not the club? This is a real danger.

Correctamundo ! Good Post !!

So from reading about them both, they are clearly v shrewd business folks. Moores started Peregrine Systems, then BMC Software (I worked there for 6yrs), he finally got his wish and also purchased Remedy (Service Desk software).
Between him and Noelle, they run JMI - a vc company specialising in software company investments.
10yrs ago Moores net worth was $730m, although it is understood to have grown since then.
The fact they bought the Padres a new stadium and also sold them suggests they maybe looking at putting us in a better position with a view to selling us on again at a profit to themselves.

I'm a little freaked out as I was originally employed by Remedy, then moved over to BMC as part of the acquisition.

I have nothing but love for BMC as I met my wife there and had 6 fantastic years working there. BMC themselves were previously a publicly traded company that took themselves back to a privately held company, with annual revenues of $1.5b.

There's clearly money with these guys, I guess the 'concern' is that they're looking st this as a short term opp to turn us around and then sell for plenty more than they bought us for.

So you would be happy with owners who go the other way and claim personal ownership of property they haven't invested in (moores owns stadium, didn't pay for it), no investment hardly in the team (drop down league, for example newcastles model).

Or better yet, instead of owners refusing to sell to us, imagine having an owner who prices the club so high that no-one in the world would buy us? Over 15 years he added about 500 million dollars onto the price of his baseball team so the club can't be sold to anyone as the lack of progression and success on the pitch under him makes the club pointless.

the board right now are tits, but you would be happy with an owner who is buying us simply to pocket the extra tv money coming in rather than actually wanting to develop us?

what i am saying isnt speculating anything, this is literally what this fella has already done once, and profited a hell of a lot because of it at the expense of his team. I'm not saying it will happen to us, or that we are being bought for shady reasons, but considering the amount of money flowing into the club as of next year, it wouldn't be too far from the truth based on his previous record.

remember when them lot got a us owner and it all went tits up and nearly bankrupted them? not too far different a situation.

Playing Devils Advocate here.

If and a big if this is all real and goes ahead and whatnot, reading up about this fella i can see the outcome being something like this.

Initially we are more succesful, sign some good players and progress, perhaps even 'god forbid' get into the top 4 and into the champions league. then the money will kind of dwindle like it is now and the lack of investment will come to light again, despite the club being in a much better position.
Meanwhile, off the pitch a new stadium is commissioned and over time it finally gets built. The lack of money on the pitch gets connected to the new stadium ala an Arsenal situation but we all go along with it because of the new stadium we are getting. It finally gets built and nothing changes in terms of money, and it becomes apparent the owners are pocketing the money for themselves the whole time, except the value of the club has gone over what the owners paid so the asking price is balked at by prospective buyers. This then puts us in a no win situation, better run but no success coming from it.
