as much as I would love to believe that someone is interested in buying (& investing) in Everton I'm struggling to buy into this.

The timing of the 'Takeover' press junkets always seems too convenient i.e. buy time whilst club officials (travel abroad, enjoy christmas etc), distract from bigger stories / issues (mega offers on the table for Rom / Stones ?), reason for not investing in the squad (transfer window coming up) ...

the only glimmer of hope that I'm clinging onto is that Kenwright is seriously ill, he certainly looked like death warmed up at the Leicester game and that the current scam investors are concerned that their puppet is unable to serve their best interests anymore and as things are (potentially) a lot rosier than they've ever been ... then time to cash in their chips.

I dream of the day when we are able to compete financially with the so-called "big boys" and cheer on a title winning team from a state-of-the-art Goodison Park. Now that's what I want for Christmas .... please.
oh dear.....

No need!

This seemingly turned into a Major League Baseball thread, how good/bad the San Diego Padres are have absolutely no relevance to Everton.

Only question you should be asking is are they better off before Moores came or after. I think we would all settle for us being bought for £200m getting a new stadium and being sold to Sheik Mulumulua blada blada for trillions of pounds when he decides to cash in.

If the debt is included in the sale then building a new stadium suddenly becomes an actually realistic prospect. With the new TV deal and perhaps the sale of a player or a relatively small amount of investment from the new owners, we would quite easily secure the debt that is required to build a new stadium, a new mortgage if you will. Obviously we would like someone to go out and buy a new stadium in its entirety with no debt, but think that might be unlikely.

Oh come on have some bloody respect and empathy for the man, regardless of his failings as chairman he's a good man and a devoted blue that's poured his heart and soul in to the club for decades, the fact that Kenwright being seriously ill could push negotiations along is not a 'glimmer of hope'.

They're better off purely in terms of having a new stadium. Apart from that (which, while certainly not nothing, is no better than half of the other clubs in MLB over that time span), their fortunes haven't changed much. He seems like a competent owner, but not one who's going to pour his personal fortune into the club.

Ultimately, what's going to really matter with this ownership group or any other ownership group that could potentially take over the club is who they appoint to run the actual operations of the club. Moores didn't seem like he had any special sort of talent (or notable level of incompetence) at that with the Padres, so who knows?

Interesting the article in the echo about the shareholder association, according to a spokesman from the association, the £200 million would be to buy out the 3 main shareholders (Kenwright, Earl and Woods) and the total cost outright will be closer to £300 million.

Absolute con merchants our board are.
Lovely ROI though eh!

Got a link for that Echo story please?
