The AGMs won't be reinstated, because the club have the final say on whether they are or not, and are under no obligation to hold them. It's an easy, quiet, criticism-free life not holding one, so of course the club are going to ultimately ignore this request and not reinstate them.

The only interesting development here is that it is the official EFC Shareholders Association requesting this. For years they have meekly accepted the clubs decision not to hold an AGM. Now it appears even the quiet ones are starting to wake up and question where we are going as a club. There's only so many 'fans evenings' and 'meet & greets' and 'Q&A's that you can fob people off with, and only so many good players you can keep selling to fund a transfer policy/debt interest repayment programme.

Agreed. The present situation is a travesty of accountability. And the club know it too. Fans Parliaments my arse.

I'm not sure they'll knock this bid back, though, tbh. Elstone hasn't kicked the idea out of the door, which you'd imagine he'd do on the quiet if there was zero chance. Perhaps if the rules were tightened up and stuff like proxy attendees were banned this fundamental right will be reinstated.

Regardless, it's a sorry state of affairs that the people who founded this club would be horrified about.

How can it be deemed a 'problem' when the rules of the club, as it stood, allowed for it? That's like saying the originators of the PLC all those years ago were wrong to include the provision. In any case, the EGMs were being forced at a point when the club was in convulsion over an opportunist stadium scheme being forced through. What's the excuse now? That's been put to bed long since. Are the majority owners afraid of having a few questions thrown at them by smaller shareholders? They have nothing to hide...do they?

The EGM mechanism was going to be abused by a number of small shareholders & proxys, who demanded that a show of hands vote be used. This was a nonsense proposal & by threatening to call EGM's until they got their way (which was never going to happen) it was obvious that the mechanism had to be changed to stop them wasting everyones time. If I was one of the major shareholders faced with that scenario, I;d have doen exactly what they did.

However the AGM's are a different matter, every shareholder should have the right to air their views & ask for their questions to be answered by the board. The fact that the law no longer has AGM's as a legal requirement, shouldn't come into it, as the shareholders have a moral right to have their say imo. A compormise might be to remove the right to a proxy, but the meetings should definitely be re-instated,

Wasn't it Tom Hughes who allowed the leader of liverpool city council to use his proxy?

Thus denying kenwright the opportunity to lie about certain dealings with the council?

In that case removing the proxy would definitely be wrong.

They were shown up in AGM's plenty. That was just one such thing. I can't see it changing myself.

The problem in the first place was that those on the top table could not answer question about the business.

At any of the forthrightly egms or threats of such! I find this whole subject hilarious, the same teds who got the Agm's banned are crying victims here - I remember exactly what went down mate and the reasons why, all the rehotric and conditioned default responses from certin groups crying victims here won't change the reasons why!

Dont get me wrong either I'd like the Agm's reinstated, let's not pretend to be victims here though or cry conspirocy!

Ah yes the victims, the small shareholders who cannot ask A question about his money invested in the club because the wealthy shareholders cannot employ the right business people to take the club forward.

Does this mean if we fall to mid table in JAN , & any top players are sold will the Blue Union rise from the ashes agai, as nothing really has changed financially from the club we have to sell to buy e.g. Rodwell to City, Cahill off the high wages etc, Is it too much to ask for an AGM for everyshare holder of EFC or is it the closed shop some fans suspect????

I think some of you are doing charles green a dis-service.
He and his group have been looking for a club for a while, that may have been the price mooted to them from Kenwright.

If the blue union and Kenwright interview taught usanything, its taught us our chairman is financially naive and puts emotion before facts; I wouldnt be suprised if that was Kenwrights value.

"financially naive" I thought he rose from a bit part actor to multi millionaire, i wish i was that financially naive!!!!

Mr the Esk, his Father and Grandfather. It would be great if our son could do so as well in the future.
i i sold my 2 shares ,because of what the meetings had become ,you were not allowed to ask any everton f c related questions ,think about it a meeting for share holders were you cant talk , dictated by bill . breaks my heart

scandal, wouldnt get away with it in a private company, shouldnt get away with it in a democratic country, he gets away with it cos we love everton unconditionally, whens he gonna leave ffs!

Tbf I know exactly how you feel (well nearly) mr the Esk feels the same way, here's a club which we partially own ( in a very small way) and have been associated with for 120 years yet get treated with contempt by the Directors and major shareholders. I I am with you 100% of the way!
