Football is a false economy and it'll implode soon, normal clubs won't be able to sustain the financial implications levied on them by these money grabbing footballers soon.

If Sky prices rise dramatically and people cancel their subscription then the next deal on the table will be considerably less and clubs will have a massive black whole to fill. Clubs need to be careful about how they go about this situation with the next lot of TV money;I can accept transfer fees rising, thats part of the game, but giving people silly money is not i.e. Samba and his £100k a week

Quite right. Look at the crazy housing market. It will simply become unsustainable. Greedy people making far too much money.

It cant be controlled by just one club. It requires unity across the PL....which, on this issue, will be like trying to plait sawdust. They're already in disagreement on how a system of pegging wages as a proportion of income should work.

IMO, it's pie-in-the-sky to think it'll be overcome. That extra £25M will be devoured by players and agents, sure as eggs are eggs.

Agreed - I personally don't have any real faith that the financial fair play rules, if they are ever formally adopted, will create anything like a level playing field. The terms of this doctrine are shot full of loopholes to allow uber-sponsored clubs to continue to rely on thier wealthy benefactors.

They'll always find a way through...it's why those clubs accepted it and didn't form a breakaway tournament to compete with Uefa's CL.

I agree that the way to sort it once & for all is for the PL to reach a formal agreement on wage levels as a %age of turnover. The Govt piped up this week that they need to get their house in order or they'll get involved. Football is a basket case & needs to self regulate now & stop piss balling about in some alternate reality.

Even without internal regulation each club will make their own decisions as to whether they allow wages to spiral, it's not a given that every club will be passive on this issue, this time around.

....it's as though our dealings are managed by 'Keystone Cops'. Surely these instances can do nothing to enhance our reputation across the world of football.
I was brought up with Sir John Moores as our custodian and I feel sorry for you lads/lasses. Sir John was a passionate blue, truly one of us but he had no need to advertise this with a patronising 'luvvy' attitide, he did his talking by supporting Managers and fans in the best possible way.

FLHD isn't saying we'll spend the money, he's saying there will factually be more money available.

LOL... So what is his point?

Could be 100mill more money next summer for all we care. We won't spend it on players. Everything else doesn't matter imo.

The way people bang on is that we've got £25mill to hedge towards transfer plus player sales. So Fellaini goes for 30mill we've got a £55mill kitty!

Get in!

If anyone has a 'Usual Suspects' Everton gif (inc. Kenwright/Suntan Bob/Keith Wyno e.t.c) I have an interesting thesis on just how conviniently this transfer window panned out for them. Make it look like they had genuine intentions to sign big money players and then poof... just like that, they're gone.
