Us outbidding United? yeah right oh, I'll miss those days if this comes in.

There's already a financial chasm between the top & the bottom, but some of the clubs are operating falsely i.e. spending benefactor cash & racking up massive losses. Force them to trade within their means & we'll slowly see them being dragged back into reality.

The only way you could view this as a bad thing, is if you're expecting a Blue Billionaire to land at Goodison.

thats the point the only way we will ever get near the top 4 consistently and even the title is a takeover which will never happen under FFP, Utd liverpool, city etc will always have the advantage of high sponserships/revenue which we dont or will never have under this board and their inept marketing.

Or to get there once, do okay and spend the money we get wisely on players to push us on and do it again.
A couple of 20mil transfer windows for Moyes could make us a hell of a team couldn't it?

Is that the catering that had been operating at a loss for years, as we're a football club & not a catering company? that operated on 1 day a fortnight & had to carry an overhead that couldn't avoid that trading reality?

What would your solution gave been to this loss making function?

Would that be similar to hundreds of other sports clubs who all manage their own catering operation and make a bit of money from it?

It's hardly running Accenture.

No idea you tell me, as your obviously the expert, share the details of similar sized operations compared to our deal with Sodexo Steve.

So then another flawless transfer windown behind us how is the greatest living evertonian getting on with selling the club?

its Not like anyone form the inner sanctum is shouting from the roof tops about the club being for sale is it considering the owner is Meant to be looking 24/7 why isnt the King of Spin Elstone and Media Friends being used in the process (he and they are wheeled out for everthing else), looks to me for whatever reason the current board dont have a problem with the current situation. its all good for someone somewhere

More or less impossible. We wouldn't be allowed to spend more than we bring in. And we can't increase the wage bill by more than £4 million a year.

So even if we invested the extra champions league money on a couple of players we couldn't pay them more than £40,000 a week.

How many champions league type players would take that money?

Is it 4mil or 40k? Where have these figures come from?
Felli is on less than 4mil but more than 40k a week.. I think another Fellaini, or a right hand Baines, a quality right mid or a decent striker would improve us to the point that 4th would be acheivable again. Its all hypothetical but CL once should bring us enough money that we could have a transfer window that includes bringing in a first team player... one good enough to help us get there again.

Definitely good, either in the eventual sale, or more worryingly, currently by some other mechanism. So good that the world's greatest living Evertonian ever, has been buying up more shares in Everton when possible. He's certainly not deterred by those other operating cost levels.

It's £4 million a year which equates to £80, 000 a week between two players.

So if we bought two £10 million players the most we could pay them is £40, 000 a week each without getting other players off the wage bill.

So for instance us and the other shower are in for a top champions league player. The fee is agreed between the clubs.
They can offer say £120, 000 a week and get rid of carragher.

The very highest we could go to is £80, 000. Unless we lose one of our biggest players.

We'd more likely clear out someone like Heittinga, buy a couple of youngsters and a decent player, whatever happens we would have options which we wouldn't have without a CL run. 80k a week can get you a very good player.

Agreed but it will only get you one player.

To get two players on that money would mean losing say coleman osman and anichebe. ( I'm guessing they're on £80, 000 ish between them a week)

We would not be able to increase any of our big players wages to stop them having their heads turned.

We will never be able to compete even if we were taken over.

You've not read it properly, as the wage hike limit only applies to PL TV revenue generated. If a club increases it's turnover via increased gate receipts or commercial increases outside of the PL e.g. CL, then it can do what it likes with it.

So your entire point is moot.

And how are Everton going to do that?

We are waiting for someone to build us a stadium.

And we're tied in to commercial deals with kitbag and Sodexo.

With the same cash that you were suggesting we wouldn't be able to spend on players suitable for the CL because of the wage hike cap........

btw those 2 deals aren't the only 2 commercial opportunites available to EFC & whilst we're on the subject you do realise that kitbag also look after the shirt retailing of Manchester United, Chelsea, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Celtic, Aston Villa, Sunderland, West Ham, Manchester City, Nottingham Forest & England don't you?
