With the same cash that you were suggesting we wouldn't be able to spend on players suitable for the CL because of the wage hike cap........

btw those 2 deals aren't the only 2 commercial opportunites available to EFC & whilst we're on the subject you do realise that kitbag also look after the shirt retailing of Manchester United, Chelsea, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Celtic, Aston Villa, Sunderland, West Ham, Manchester City, Nottingham Forest & England don't you?

And how many of them don't sell their kits anywhere but online and in their stadium store ?

So you're saying that every other club outside the top 4 who sell their kits in other places are wrong, then ?

I supose you have a detailed list of where these clubs have their shirts on sale then & what amazing sales numbers they achieve?

Do you know how much high foot fall retail rail space has to turn over to justify it's existence? Or to put it another way, how many Evertonians do you reckon would buy a new shirt that don't already do so via the channels that are available - notably on-line????

No, of course i don't.

However, one would assume that selling your kits wholesale to places like Sports Direct, or having them available in Nike stores and abroad, must be worth it. Otherwise why would pretty much every other PL club do so ? The club doesn't need to sell any number of kits, they simply need to make them available for other retailers to sell in their stores, the onus is then on the retailer to sell them, the club has already made their money having sold the stock.

The idea of an exclusivity deal is that Kitbag will pay us a set amount which is superior to selling them wherever. And despite this deal apparently being great, we're one of the only clubs i know of who actually do so.

Then again, perhaps our brilliant board has it right and every other club is wrong. LOL !

We're currently losing money. Right?
We rely on player sales to keep that loss down . Right?
And kenwright has to guarantee any future losses personally. Right?

You think he's going to strengthen the squad to compete in the champions league or make do?
If we dont get past the qualifier do we even get any extra money?

And as for the kit deal. How does Aston Villas kit deal stack up compared to ours?

The actual kits i don't know, but they do get twice as much money from sponsorship as we do. Twice as much for a team who are close to relegation.

Thanks for the explanation of wholesaling, lol.

The idea of handing over the responsibility for the online & retail distribution of our shirts to kitbag, is that they are the experts in sports wear retailing.

So given this fact & that the more shirts they sell, the more money they will make, why haven't kitbag ensured that our merchandise is available in more varied retail outlets & more on-line sites? Could it be that they don't think that binning shirts out to the likes of SD, when they can sell them directly off the club website at much higher margin, makes any financial sense?

I merely was using your argument lad, as it was YOU that was bemoaning the fact that a wage cap hike would be detrimental to EFC, when we qualify for the CL, as we'd be limited how much we could increase the wage bill by - I was using the cash you'd invented to make a point.

And my question is, why does no other club in the prem follow this model ? If our method is superior why have no other club cottoned onto it ?

The more likely answer, as usual, is that those running the club are clueless and have taken an inferior deal because it makes it easier for them. Outsource everything to take pressure off actually running the club properly.

Unless there's a demand that isn't being fulfilled by the current arrangement then you can't say definitively that it's the wrong strategy to follow. All you're doing is putting your own subjective spin on it & reaching the conclusion that it's a failure.

I'm not saying that it's the right model to use either btw, I'm saying that I can see the logic in it, as whilst the likeyhood is that the number of shirts sold in total will be less than if they were more widely wholesaled, the ppu will definitely be much higher & there'll be little or no risk of losing money on aged stock.

More or less impossible. We wouldn't be allowed to spend more than we bring in. And we can't increase the wage bill by more than £4 million a year.

So even if we invested the extra champions league money on a couple of players we couldn't pay them more than £40,000 a week.

How many champions league type players would take that money?

I don't think there would be anything stopping a club like Everton spending all of their Champions League money on wages, if they wanted to. The wage increase cap only applies to the PL TV money, I think.

I don't think it's subjective to say that if this was the most financially rewarding course of action that more clubs in the premiership would be following the same model.

Our board aren't financial gurus, as they've proven over the years, so you'd have to be pretty ballsy to think it likely that we're actually ahead of the pack when it comes to making money from our kits.

And the money is just one issue. Why is it so difficult for international fans to find Everton kits in their country ? It's insane that to get an Everton kit in the US you have to pay for worldwide shipping and handling, why is there no US reseller ?

Firstly, just because the majority do it, doesn't make it right by definition......however I take your point, but you've conveniently ignored mine - that being, that kitbag have the licence to sell it & can do so wherever & by whatever means they like - they're also THE EXPERTS, so why haven't they got it stocked anywhere & everywhere????

As for the US, seriously? how much demand do you think we're missing out on there like?

America isn't about just the money. There have been plenty of Americans (and people from other countries) who wish we offered kits to them from a domestic seller.
