From an Aussie perspective, there is demand here for merchandising however at present the supporters are primarily adults (the dads) and have no issue ordering from everton online. In a few years where the youngsters are driving sales and the mums are looking to buy their little evertonians some merchandise they will want to get it from local stores or a more convient way. When everton toured here a few years ago you had one of the largest turnouts for football in Sydney and the place was awash with #17 home, away, 3rd and special event kits).

My 2 cents: If you want the big $$$ chase the Asian market and sign a marquee from the region.

I've already said what the reason was, they have a standard minimum order of 10,000 for kits.

So you know do you, didn't notice you were involved in top level negotiation of the contract. Please provide more detail?

If the women and baby kits weren't profitable do you really think Umbro and LCS would have made them for about ten years ?.

A lot of reasons really, price of material (from Nikes suppliers), cost of shipment (from Nike manufacturing centres), cost of power, cost of employees; i'm sure there are a hundred reasons. Or maybe, just maybe, that LCS and Umbro production of these kits were break even and the profit was made on the junior and male kits

You answered it yourself by saying that Nike are global company, which means they're only interested in the biggest and easiest profit. That doesn't mean there is no money to be made selling baby and women's kits, and i think implying so is a bit crazy seeing as there was huge backlash when that happened this season, it even made news on national radio.

A bit of a double negative there; if they want a profit, and there is more money to be made in such kits then these would be available. Its pretty simple, there is no secret forumla, if there is a market its available and for sale.

Oh god, there was a huge backlash that made national news???? Jesus H Christ, then that must mean that there is money in it then. Quick, lets e-mail Nike and tell them about this huge backlash (of a bout a couple of hundred people demanding kits) and that all their productions vs sale costings are not relevant; this major media event obviously implies they don't have a clue in global HQ

Mark Carney said Everton is his favorite U.K. soccer club, citing family ties when pressed for his allegiance by a Canadian lawmaker.
The Bank of Canada Governor, who will lead the Bank of England starting July 1, made the comment at the end of a 90- minute hearing in Ottawa yesterday.
“I am an Everton supporter,” Carney said. “I have got some cousins in Liverpool,” the city that contains Everton.
James Rajotte, who chairs the House of Commons finance committee, asked what team Carney would follow after leaving Canada, where ice hockey is the national passion. Carney was a backup goaltender for Harvard University’s hockey team and a longtime supporter of the Edmonton Oilers, the National Hockey League team in Alberta where he spent part of his youth.
“It’s been more enjoyable being an Edmonton Oilers supporter than it has been being an Everton supporter of late, since the Oilers are coming back strong this year,” Carney said. “Everton is doing ok,” he allowed.
Everton is sixth in English soccer’s elite Premier League, three places and five points ahead of archrival Liverpool. The Toffees won the last of their nine league titles in 1987, while Liverpool hasn’t been English champion since it claimed an 18th crown in 1990.
Carney will take over from Mervyn King, who is an Aston Villa supporter.

I know some people may already know this, but this has just gone up on the Bloomberg site.

So... the new Bank of England Governor (soon to be former Bank of Canada Governor) is a lifelong Everton fan. A man who clearly moves in high financial circles, who could potentially sell someone with money on the idea of investing in us.

Will it lead to anything? Has it done so yet? Watch this space... :coffee:

In your eagerness to act like a total tit you've rather missed the point, again.

I'll give you another example. Apple only make expensive laptops and they make a lot of money doing so because the profit margins are high. Does that mean there is no money to be made in selling cheaper computers ? Of course not.

Nike only sell products at high volume because it's easier for them to manage a smaller product line with high yields than a product line with lots of products that sell at a lower volume. However, just because that's easier for them doesn't mean it's the option which makes the most sense for Everton either financially or commercially.

I especially love the part where you decided to be a condescending bel when asking how i knew about the minimum order size. I actually got that from our DoC Paul Tyrrell, who said it on Twitter. You could have asked that instead of acting like a blert.

The head of communications on twitter dropped what the Nike deal was. Sell x amount minimum. Over that amount we make money
