All that tells us is that we've played the transfer market better than any other club without a billionaire/mega millionaire sugar daddy. What are we? 5th ? A point of a CL place? Things must be really desperate at Everton....not.

I want us 1st, mate.

Being 5th while spending no money is to me less satisfactory than being 1st while spending lots.

It's like playing a small child in goal and then going yeah we've only finished 6th but we've got a small child in goal, considering that we've done quite well. It's true to the point, but you're basically celebrating being so badly run you've got a small child in goal. You're crippling yourself and then patting yourself on the back for not being that slow.

Likewise getting to 5th while spending no money is quite good but since raising money is part of the game then it is basically clebrating being good enough at certain things to compromise for being awful at other things. Great, how about we try and be good at all things and then we might actually win something and not just finish about 6th every year?

what it reflects is that any credit for being 5th lies with the managers and coaches and players, becuase the board have done zero to put us there, in fact they are in a negitive rating for that, unless your a lawnmower enthusiast

Whom the board all brought in and have kept here.

The board deserve the credit for that. A lot of boards with far more resources haven't been able to hire and keep as good a staff who've done as good a job. The 6th last year and the 7th the year before and the 5th/6th/7th this year is the board's victory as much as anyone elses.

I just only really care about 1sts myself.

Like I said on the neville/manager thread, the one thing I will give Bill credit for is his process for hiring a manager, he does also like to hire a manager who wants to run the entire club, so other than the manager he gets no credit from me I'm afraid, regards players and coaches, thats been down to Davey and Berto's teams

Priceless, utterly priceless.

What he is stating is a fact, Everton have done brilliantly on what they have spent. Moyes must take a lot of praise for this, but you cant argue Everton have stabilised and both Moyes and Martinez praise Kenwright to the hilt.

But whatever are your views (and a small number obsess on Kenwright, look at this thread!) who would you like to see takeover? As far as I know no one has put in a bid!

Why on earth would you know if someone has put in a bid? A bid only comes about after initial discussions with the board anyway, and they admit they have spoken to lots of interested parties. Why that hasnt led anywhere is the pertinent question.

No trophies and no relegations is what they've done.

Chairmen of footballs clubs LEND them money at decent rates for both, or underwrite loans. Even John Moores did it this way when we were known as the millionaires. So if you want us in more debt so be it, transfer money alone can't cover it all.

So you're saying that you'd rather have us win no trohpies as long as our debt remains at only 46,000,000.00 pounds?

Fair play to you mate. The idea of us winning an fa cup but finding out the next day as we return jubilent from wembley that our debt has reached 50 million doesn't bear thinking about.

No I'd rather we don't go the way of Portsmouth et al and manage then reduce the debt. RS and others have massively outspent us and are trophy less proving throwing big bucks at something doesn't always work.
