2018/19 The Everton Board Thread

Johnson wanted a two tier stand but said that the decision had already been taken by the previous Board. As I recall, the new End would have had its roof joining with the Bullens Rd roof.
Great from a viewing perspective but a poor, characterless stand, unbecoming of GP.

Stadium redevelopment and stadium development seem to be different beasts. I hope he succeeds, but my gut reaction is that they've spent weeks looking around for someone and have then made another internal appointment. I would like our senior management to have rather more global experience generally, but perhaps that's wishful thinking. I'm just a punter.
Maybe just maybe he was hired originally with this role in mind
Seems strange he was appointed around the same time Moshiri appeared on the scene after he sold his Arsenal shares
Now he’s appointed to his proper role just as another lad sells his Arsenal shares

As a general rule of thumb before seating came in we'd only sell out 2 games a year...rs & united + depending on how well we were doing the odd cuptie.
If anybody wants a comparison, give me a year in the modern era...say 1960 onwards...and I'll tell you the top 4 attendances and the lowest 2

The amount of money spent, for no reward, pitiful.

^ It's funny how close Spurs are to us there really. Obviously they're bounds ahead of us at the moment but they still have no actual trophies (tangible measures of 'success') to show for it. The irony perhaps being that we were arguably better during the time we weren't spending the coin whilst they did, and vice versa.

The reds have spent x2 the amount we have and are in a similar boat. They've had, what, a league cup win in recent times?

League cup win on penalties against a lower league side is all in just over a decade, the only difference between us, well apart form delusion

Transfer fee invested by Everton 2010-2018

€597M

Transfer sales brought in by Everton 2010-2018

€290M

Broadcasting payments to Everton 2010-2018

€660M
What’s the wage bill being like in that timeframe
When was the vast majority of the transfer money spent
When was the transfer money recieved

Go and check...I'm sure it wont come to a billion quid when added together with outgoings on fees....and that's what the club have got in from just player sales and broadcasting without adding in matchday and commercial streams.

how many on that list have not won a single trophy since 2010?

Must be us and, not sure, Spurs? Napoli?

Those numbers don’t include sales, do they? Up until a couple years ago I imagine most of Everton’s outlay was matched or even exceeded by sales... unlike a lot of other clubs on the list.

You can't argue with that factually but perception is as important as reality and Spurs without a trophy have still been seen to gain inclusion amongst the "top six" as a separate band of clubs, and along with their new stadium, that has to be deeply concerning for us. It's not just in terms of public perception either, the top six have their own mini-meetings at executive level, and when this happens at a Premier League meeting, the other clubs, Everton included, are booted out of the room whilst the big guns get on with their power play.

Even if we were to mirror their success in the coming years, if you can call it that, I'm not sure how we gatecrash this elite group in terms of lobbying and policy-making. I assume it is Spurs turnover that warrants inclusion, and they have been significantly out-performing us commercially for many years even before things improved on the pitch for them.
