I shall be writing a very strongly worded letter to this effect following the conclusion of the season. I will refrain from expletives but I will make it clear that many of us who support this venerable institution are feeling more than a tad vexated. The performance of this board is on a par with Brett Angell’s heading ability and it will just not do to repeat this season’s debacle.

And of all the things in football, and at this particular time when this grand club is fighting for its survival, shame on Hughes for peddling this sensationalist nonsense.
The club have questions to answer, for sure, but if someone wants to go all Panorama about the state of funding and finances in modern football, there are far more juicier targets than Everton.

If his article was remotely true I think that heavily influences the PLs attitude to finding us not guilty. There is one thing docking points etc, but having other clubs commercially litigate on us for loss of revenue etc for that sum, puts us out of business after 145 years.
I am not sure the PL would want that so if this Is a genuine risk i think they will either find ‘no case to answer’ or if it proceeds, not guilty. It makes no sense to exposing a club as big and traditional as ours to that sort of risk, and in my opinion, it severely damages the PL brand
