The Everton Board Thread

Bill's been on the phone to one of his favourite media chums Dominic King. AGAIN he is trying to have protestors depicted as nasty, clueless thugs.

Sharp has been Kenwright's bootlicker-in-chief for decades, he literally wouldn't hear a word against him when he used to work for local radio. Directly insulted the people who were trying to expose Kenwright long before now ("one man and his dog"). He has contributed nothing of any value to Everton behind the scenes, even during his stint as Fans' Liason Officer he wouldn't entertain any questions that went beyond what type of crisps we should sell in the concourse. He knows absolutely nothing about modern-day football as evidenced by his brief and pathetic managerial career. He's on the Board purely as a cheerleader for Kenwright.

Screw him, his legacy for me was completely ruined when he chose to side with his paymaster over what was ultimately the club's best interests. Don't ever think he should be welcome back at Goodison either personally.

Absolutely disgraceful stuff AGAIN.

My favourite but was about Sharp and his wife being grandparents… So what? lol

The man has been directly complicit in the clubs failure since his laughable appointment to the board. Even before that, he’s been the chief attack dog of Bill Kenwright for 20 years. Some of the stick he used to give callers on Radio City who had the audacity to even ask a question about his master tells you all you need to know about our “Sharpy”.

Imagine if he’d stepped down in the last few months and denounced the running of the club, he’d have gone some way to building bridges with the fans. But he’s not, and he won’t, because he’s looking forward to a fat payoff when he’s finally potted. Clearly his bank balance is more important to him than his legacy, which is absolutely fine but then don’t go cry-arsing to Dominic King.

Rodent.

Another brilliant article 👏.

My favourite bit was where he got all the quotes from the man in the title, or asked him anything at all about his thoughts on the state of the club. I have no doubt he probably is gutted his Saturdays are now devoid of Everton, but vague lines about his wife being sad are just hearsay from some chat at the bar at media awards ceremony.

I have a modicum of sympathy in that Sharpe was bestowed this “honour” purely as a token effort at fan engagement and to be a human shield. However board positions do come with actual responsibilities, they aren’t long service awards.

Sharpe won’t have a slimy London based PR rep telling him what to say, but literally could have simply put out a brief comment at any point since Jan saying, “Clearly there have been a number of mistakes made over recent years, and while I have no experience in finance, commercial operations, board-level decisions, I will continue to use my position to offer my opinions wherever possible to help the club recover to where it should be.” Then just carried on going to games in defiance of the top level security advice.

I wrote that on the bog with a cup of tea in 30 seconds. Not rocket science and still respectful of his bosses. He would have elevated himself a bit closer to Nev’s position of greatest living player if he’d taken just one step closer to the fans side of the argument and shown he supported the club not the board.

He was recently asked by the protest groups for talks, to my knowledge he chose to ignore that, always came across as rather arrogant. Actually being picked to be Fans Liason Officer says it all about Kenwright and our board, rotten to the core.

Another hit job on the fans the night before a massive game.

They're consistent, I'll give them that.

Teaming up with a kopite again, if Bill, Graeme, Denise and Co feel safe and loved at Anfield, we should club together and buy them all a season ticket there. Poor Graeme indeed King, you forget to mention, he's been totally venemous to any fan who dared to question the club. Poor Graeme who is that upset he can't attend Goodison but can attend Aintree in Liverpool for a major Horse race, on the same day his beloved club and team had a vitally important relegation battle. Poor Graeme who ignored a plea from the protest groups for talks, which could have been an olive branch. Poor Graeme who along with the rest of this pathetic board threw every Everton fan under a bus and portrayed them all as thugs, with the groundless insinuation that one of them held Denise,Barrett Baxendale in a headlock, again right before a vitally important game which we went on to lose. He honest King, Kenwright and his lying board chose to stay away from their cushy seats, they have fun away and deserted their club in their hour of need, they deserve all the talk they get. Enjoy you're Hitler loving newspaper and peddle as many lies as you can at their bidding, another who will never be forgiven or forgotten.

From the guardian on Hertha:

It had been a tough week for Hertha even before the Köln defeat. Ingmar Pering, an influential board member (and erstwhile presidential candidate) resigned on Thursday after 15 years at the club. His resignation statement, leaked to Kicker, did not spare the regime led by the current president Kay Bernstein, rather than laying it all at the door of Gegenbauer and the recently exited major investor Lars Windhorst.

Pering called the deal with 777 “a hasty process by the presidency” which left no room “to consider alternatives”, meaning a refusal would have left “no real alternative to economic collapse and bankruptcy.” He went on to write that the Bernstein era was even more difficult to align himself with than Gegenbauer’s. “Now we don’t just have to deal with selfish power people who are only concerned about personal gain,” said Pering, “but also with collective incompetence.”

Etc etc etc...

Just following on from this I wonder if Graeme Sharp has grown a full beard?

Thoughts @BeardedScotsman ?

Just been thinking takeover valuation touted at £600m - presumably that is without funding the remainder of the stadium so am thinking total valuation may stand at around £750 - £800m (if the purchase funds it). Now consider what a lease were bought for £4.2bn, Spurs were being touted for upward of £3.5bn and Utd’s sale looks like being around £5.5bn. So we are going maximum for less a fifth of Utd, less than a quarter of Chelsea’s and less than a third of Spurs valuation.

Despite being starved of success for nearly 30 years, and as a result having less major trophies than those three clubs, we have still won more top division titles than both Chelsea and Spurs combined but because of the last 30 years our market valuation look tiny compared to theirs. If we went back 30 years, a sale of our club would have been more expensive than Chelsea, as equally if not more expensive than Spurs, and not significantly less than Utd.

Those numbers tell their own story as to why the Board / ownership has to go, and in particular Kenwright the Hutt.

Kevin Ratcliffe, club captain during those halcyon days, needs a mention too. Royle rarely gets seen these days, which shows he's not in favour.

I'd genuinely chip in for one. One of the best players I've ever seen play for Everton.

Ratcliffe falls in a similar category to Sharp to me, obviously nowhere near that level but you look at how Reid/Royle talk about us and you go back further to Labone, now there was a captain who eulogised what it meant to be an Evertonian. Obviously we haven't had much to shout about but he was always sniping. You could say it's because the others were from Liverpool and felt it more but players like Cahill prove that doesn't have to be the case.

Ratcliffe as our most successful captain and a quality CB should be like you say very much in that conversation but I feel due to his personality isn't.
