They sent out auto renewal today for club memberships. A few days before the possibility of being relegated. Freaking ghouls.
Sounds like how Gus Fring was hiding the money.![]()
Sanctioning an Oligarch Is Not So Easy: Why the Money Trail of Alisher Usmanov, One of Russia’s Wealthiest Men, Is Difficult to Follow
Alisher Usmanov, who has been closely tied to top Russian leaders, hides behind trusts, secretive offshore companies, Swiss bank accounts, and his family members to detach his name from his billions.www.occrp.org
I think in the real world we all would accept that there are fantastically wealthy people spending billions every year which are the proceeds of criminal activities.in the uk this applies:
In UK law money laundering is defined in the Proceeds of Crimes Act 2002 (POCA) part 7, and includes “all forms of handling or possessing criminal property, including possessing the proceeds of one's own crime, and facilitating any handling or possession of criminal property”
Its a narrower scope in some countries.
But in reality the purchasing of anything can be used to conceal Money Laundering, so effectively if they purchase property, Vehicles or anything really and they are using money from illegitimate sources and it matters not how long they wait to "Clean" that money then it can be classed as Money Laundering.
Not saying, here, that it has taken place but its not as black and white as one may think.
Layering, Placement etc are all methods of hiding sources of illegal activities.
I mean, yeah possibly, but the PL strikes me as the ideal spot to park loads of money which has a sketchy background in the hope that you can free it up one day.If anything it's more sports washing than actually financial laundering even there is seedy stuff afoot, you think any of Chelsea fans care that abramonvich was best friends with Putin? He got his hobby and the Chelsea fans got trophies it's very transactional but I think they would launder funds through a different enterprise
Course it wouldn't because money was flowing in to the club and we wanted success just like Chelsea and Newcastle.I think in the real world we all would accept that there are fantastically wealthy people spending billions every year which are the proceeds of criminal activities.
A lot of Usmanovs money would seem to come from the legitimate business world, even though I am sure there is plenty that does not.
However, if Russia had not invaded Ukraine I don't think this would be as issue for discussion.
I think in general most of the wealthy owners of any clubs in any sport would struggle with close scrutiny.Course it wouldn't because money was flowing in to the club and we wanted success just like Chelsea and Newcastle.
But everyone knew this was dodgy from the start.
I 100% agree but I think the oligarchs are right at the top of the 'shady' pyramid.I think in general most of the wealthy owners of any clubs in any sport would struggle with close scrutiny.

It takes a special kind of ego to buy one. You don't see Buffett out buying sports teams. He could, and he wouldn't even notice operating one at a hundred-million loss every season, but he doesn't do it.I think in general most of the wealthy owners of any clubs in any sport would struggle with close scrutiny.
All rich billionaires are dodgy in some way or anotherI think I'm being pretty clear here.
There's no evidence of money laundering. No one has been charged or is being investigated to the best of my knowledge.
But given the history of the oligarchs and the shady way they have conducted business over the last 30 years, and the way he invested in Everton (and Arsenal) it's reasonable to think that the whole process might not be 100% above board.
The oligarchs have gone out of their way to invest in western assets, getting a huge sum of money out of Russia.
It's naive of you to think it's all above board.
Abramovic has only met Putin once.. sure I heard that somewhereIf anything it's more sports washing than actually financial laundering even there is seedy stuff afoot, you think any of Chelsea fans care that abramonvich was best friends with Putin? No matter what happens with investment, no matter what other board changes happen, the fact that Farhad Moshiri thought this man was a suitable manager for Everton means nothing can truly be fixed until he is out of our club completely and for good.
They can’t sue Everton they would have to sue the PL as it stands Everton are innocent until proven guiltyGoing in to possibly the most important game in Everton’s recent history and I’m sick of seeing report after report of us being sued for 300 mill if we stay up.
Now whether or not it’ll happen it’s just one thing after another.
I absolutely despise these bunch of clowns for putting us fans through this crap. It’s bad enough buying crap players and making crap decisions and dicing with relegation but to threaten our very existence with grossly irresponsible decision making and negligence is unforgivable![]()
