The Everton Board Thread

Because Danny, put simply, to do so would alienate them from the 'club' - not the fans, not the real entity that is the club, but the monstrosity behind the scenes.

Look at the likes of Southall, who isn't allowed at Goodison because of his views. He's an easy example, but there are others who we know aren't welcome.

Alternatively, there have been players who've been happy to toe the line due to the benefits it brought them in terms of cushy, paid positions and hospitality.

However, after Sharp, I suspect there'll be less of those who put their name forward, so hopefully the board will become more isolated in their position.

In terms of your comment about being an Evertonian not being a prerequisite on the board, I totally agree. I want the right person, with the right skills, doing it.

Nepotism and whatnot, where loyalties can become manipulated, isn't what we need.
You could argue being an Evertonian could hinder their effectiveness in senior positions.

As @brieverton says above, we're run like a Golf Club. Brandy in the boardroom and telling each other stories of how wonderful they all are. Revered, no less.

We're a business worth (theoretically) well over half a billion pounds. We have a geriatric theatre producer, a charity boss and a footy player from simpler times steering the shop.

Get a bunch of high performing robots in who run it as a business. Everything else falls into place.

Mark Carney ex Bank of England Governor is an Evertonian I believe.
Sir Terry Leahy ex head of Tesco is too.
Andy Burnham.
The season ticket holder who has just organised the latest loan.(name escapes me).
There are plenty of big hitters if Someone ie Moshiri, actually bothered to look.
We could have a great board if we wanted.
Andy Burham is a good shout.

I've seen and heard a lot of chatter fro ex players (Goodlass, Southall etc) about Sharp being given a frsh hearing.

No. Not for me.

We all know and appreciate what he did as a player but he's lost all credibility and there's no way back for him.

He'd need to fall on his sword I think first

Quit the board as a sign of protest

Would up the pressure on the others as well
