A strong board needs to be united and without distraction

Having outside influences may/does cause boardroom conflict and potentially dilutes from its strategy/mission

If the board delivers success then no need for former player representation to keep the fans happy as we will be happy with the success

They deliberately pick the oddballs. It is about giving people a laugh. Would be very boring if it was genuine, knowledgeable fans talking about the detailed inner workings of a club.
