The Everton Board Thread

Do the people that disagree with them have any actual valid reasons why they do? Because I’ve yet to hear any personally, “just support the team” isn’t a valid reason either.
Because it might hypothetically be worse under Yanks is another one. But with no inside knowledge of whether that's actually the case.

I don’t disagree, however I just think it’d be a shame if this destroyed the support for the team we saw at the end of the season.
This is the key for me.

That support towards the team cannot be sacrificed.

I'm still all for protests in the stadium when we're not playing. EG, HT, Full Time after players leave the pitch. Media are still there writing match reports, Kenwright and Co are still enjoying a Brandy in the boardroom.

I was a big supporter of 1000s of tennis balls on the pitch to delay kick off but I reckon we need to be on our best behaviour with the PL for the foreseeable.

I applaud the efforts of the 27 years people. They're doing something! They can see the engagement levels of the tweets the send out and if they feel banners is the best way then that's fair enough. Hopefully the next step is getting something into the local press (fat chance) or an article (respectfully explaining why they exist) in one of the nationals. Even phone up Moshiris mate on Talk Sport, something with a bit more reach than banners on the fanzone railing.

…instability off the pitch will ultimately impact stability on it. We saw that with Benitez, he caused as much chaos away from the team as he did with it.
I think it deoands where that instability is though Mr. Eggs.

Benitez was obviously closely linked to the team, any discontent around him will impact the mood around Finch Farm and on match day far more than 1000s of fans questioning the owner and board of directors.

Support the team, 100%.
Challenge the board.

Both things can run side by side.

….he caused rifts with FF staff & within the Board.

i agree, though, fans dissatisfaction with the Board should be voiced, I’m just not sure how.

Oh there's no doubt he caused rifts.

It's what he does.

The point is there has to be a way to effectively apply pressure on the board without having a negative impact on the playing side.

As you say, it's figuring that bit out.

For everything I've said about Kenwright, it's masterful what he's done over the years.

Completely eradicated an identity built on decades and decades of history, and then remade the club in his own image.

Couldn't have done it without his little soft power exertions in the press, though. It wouldn't have anything like the same impact now, but keeping the Echo in his pocket and getting Sharp on board as the go-to former player for media outlets (especially the old Legends phone-in) did a lot to nip unrest before it could spread.

Probably shouldn't forget Moyes's influence, either. He was very happy to be in a position where he could be in the bottom three at Christmas and still will Manager of the Year after finishing 8th, and had no problem telling supporters what a wonderful chairman we had while taking all the plaudits (not to mention trousering £10m a year) for winning the Net Spend Cup every year.

It's the main reason this 'takeover' has been a disaster. It needed a full root-and-brand clear out before we could begin to move on from the Kenwright era, but not only has the rot been allowed to remain, it's been added to.

Congratulations mate, I believe you’ve just firmly, nailed it on the head.

His input can’t be completely on him, but it’s no shock that since he joined the board in the late 80’s, we’ve been dismantled as one of the English giants to an afterthought and circus.

Created a boys club culture, and sold to the only people who kept him round. No shock there.

Frustrated by this…

Fully support protests against the board, but who’s that soft, that they’ve spent hours making banners, and took the time to go to Goodison, only to not check what events were happening the same day?

Surely the aim is for exposure, right? To let the world know we’re unhappy with the board?

So how, have they managed to miss the fact England women were playing at the same time, in a home Euros? That 8-0 basically means that the journalists will not give a toss about it.

Feels like they’ve wasted a massive opportunity. I know they’re doing it for the right reasons, but massive slip up that.

Don't think many journalists actually care. I doubt it would.have got much air time anyway

So why do it yesterday then? When the club are in mid air heading to America?

Surely the point of a protest is to build interest and emphasise your points?

When United stormed old Trafford, they did it for exposure (I don’t agree with it, but still).
Feels like they’ve done a great job for 90% of it, and forgot the final details.

I don’t care that it’s posted on bedsheets either, not sure why there have been arguments over that.

Ultimately, there isn't much point doing it during the off season at all.

It needs to be done during the season when there are the numbers of people and the TV crews there. Otherwise, it makes no difference. Protesting at the ground on a non match day will always seem pointless to me as none of the board are likely to be around, and there won't be the media.

Being picked up by a few newspapers today

Has 27years campaign suddenly changed their message? It still says on their page about engaging with moshiri and wanting the same as he does, but last night's protest says "Moshiri sell up".

It appears they can't even get their messaging straight.
