The Everton Board Thread

England cricket decided that performances were unacceptable, got rid of everyone, started from scratch, and look where they are now.

We've just hit rock bottom or very close. We need to do exactly what Rob Key did with England.

In short, give it McCullum till the end of the season

I wasn't at the game tonight. It looked like a pub team in blue on highlights. However, through all this I cant get away from Ancelotti. Walking away as he did because the Everton owner granted him a 'get out clause' that he could activate was gross mismanagement. What proper ambitious club allows that? The dreadful decision making at Board level runs further back than Lampard or Benitez. Ancelotti stitched us...no doubt...but we let him. The Board are responsible for that and all that has followed

I think one of the many reasons for poor performance is that the Manager, coaches and players do not feel there is proper backing from the Board.
The board and owner should be held accountable because they are part of the problem that created such environment.

In such time, the board and owner should step up and publicly show their backing to the coaches and players.

The Manager knows the board would just hide and he would be offered as sacrificial lamb to the press and fans. And behind the scenes, he couldn't get the players he want, he couldn't get some of the better players' contract extended etc.....why would any Managers want or could do their best for such board?

Not saying our manager is not at fault but the board should share some of the responsibilities and take actions other than just changing managers.

Clause or not, if you're Everton manager and Real Madrid come calling, you are doing anything and everything you can to make that happen.

He could have had an iron clad 10 year contract with Everton and he'd have still been off.

You could even replace Real Madrid will the name of about 100 clubs and you'd be utterly insane to want to continue at Everton.

We have always had poor squad depth and this falls on the board. Similar thing happened in Carlo’s second season. We just fell apart as injuries piled up and we did not back in the Jan window.

They need to make a decision to either back Lampard or sack him. We cannot be so cautious when its so close to relegation.

Fair point but 100 clubs? Not sure about that. I support Everton and despite every disappointment in my lifetime they are not generally outside the top 100 clubs in Europe. 50 for sure not 100. Real Madrid - yes of course they would...but he literally just walked out the door. There is usually compensation as a minimum. There seemed nothing but a new manager search.

Problem is if we spend a load chances are they won't be any good and then the P&L regulations will kill us the following summer and winter windows.

We need to sell an asset like Pickford or Gordon (though that ship has probably sailed) to be able to rebuild with the future plan in mind and not just from now till May.

I suppose we ought to have been grateful that he gave us the time of day in the first place to be honest. We were not worthy of him.

You're probably right; 50 clubs seems about right. We're trash.
