The Everton Board Thread

I don't really understand your point. There was clearly no money available so the protesting had zero impact on transfer plans. They didn't intend to back whoever the manager was, and they didn't, whilst receiving a very large fee late in the window.

And I fully agree with it not being about the managers anymore. No manager can succeed under this environment, with this total lack of support. If Dyche gets us to 17th, then he's done the best job here since Moyes, and by a long way.

Thats a counter analysis id accept mate, its difference in opinion really. However i dont agree that we dont have money to spend, not at all.

One side is not as bad as the other Neiler. You simply can't say that. One side did not brief the global media of threats and violence. Then for it to turn out nothing was reported to the Police and no offences reported or clearly evidence provided.

You're commenting from a very uninformed position I believe, particularly in relation to the protests. You're equating fans that aren't paid a million pounds a year to board members that are but that have behaved terribly (incl. things not public yet - trust me there is things yet to come out publicly about what is going on) and they continue to do so. You're comparing them to fans that simply want the club ran properly

Who cancelled the Annual General Meeting at the club Neiler? The fans?

Your attempts to equate the protests to the behaviour of Bill Kenwright and Denise Barrett Baxendale do not stand up. In any way shape or form

I'm not saying one side is better then other mate, not polarising it as such, the whole thing was shocking, my point is the conflict created a toxicity that to my mind impacted the club negatively and its over all welfare. Without either side the toxicity doesn't exist.

The only money we had was coming from sales and that didn't happen until the end of the window. It was always going to be loans and Danjuma only came here because of Lampard, soon as he was gone so was Danjuma. We need to face hard facts as fans, we are a crap club with crap players and we are in a poor league position and players don't want to play for us at the moment.

I said on here after Palace that it would be a mistake to allow that to happen.

A combination of relief and just wanting a break from Everton proved a huge mistake. We let them off the hook.

The club also did well in a bit of a PR spin by letting the manager thank fans etc.

I think now though the vast majority of Everton fans see how bad the club is ran - there's no comeback.

I speak to a big cross section of Everton fans and there's not one I know who don't want this board out.

Last season that was not the case.

We can. I've said that before.

But we can't.

External factors we can't control take that narrative away and the narrative counts.

Dyche suggested parking it.

The fan campaign group paused match day protests last season and give the reason as to avoid distraction.

A campaign against the board doesn't have to be on a match day.

It should include match days for maximum impact, no doubt - I just don't think it's now. For me, the way the cards have fell - new manager, the immediate fixtures coming up, and how clear and obvious the boards failing now is in public - it's counter productive for match day protests right now.

You have opposition teams potentially having a small mental lift with "lads, their own fans are kicking off and will get on top of them, the pressure is on them..." - it's not true, but former/current players have said this happens.

I'll support the fan protests as a fan, just feel as though it would be more savvy and damaging to the board to do as Dyche suggested. Park it. That doesn't mean stop it.

I would be extremely wary about the same happenning as last year. Naturally things quieten down during the off season, and the timing argument will always be used by some.

I appreciate your points but don't believe it's counter productive right now. I believe doing nothing is far worse. Dyche is smart enough to know this is not about him and he can create a strong mentality in the dressing room.

Maybe I'm wrong but I feel like we are closer to change than we've been and come the summer things could be very different. I don't believe the club moves forward under any manager until we get a takeover and a new board. And I think it's more than likely that relegation is the only way we actually get it unfortunately. Maybe that's me being overly negative, but I'd be extremely wary about just backing off on everything until June, that's a long time in football.

Whatever people chose to do regarding pausing or continuing to protest against the board i can understand and personally i am torn on what may be best at this time.

But i would agree with pausing the protests only on the basis that if we somehow survive relegation then the entire focus switches back to the board and any remaining games are fully utilised to show that protest in a range of ways.

Also thought needs to be put into the summer months and how momentum is kept up.

Think this is the link silencing ?

The club used to be terrible mate with stuff like that.

Going back to around the time of that article - they'd have their legal reps terror us - club crest usage in the forum from members, not allowing fixture lists - they suspended our Facebook Page for 18 months etc. I felt as though they had a grudge/paranoia towards anything "fan site" - it was like we were all Blue Union and to be treated as an enemy. You expect to swim against the tide as a fan site, but they used to lash mines in the water too.

So yeah, it's not paranoia. The club unfollowed us on social media and never followed again after crest gate and Look at this example from NSNO.co.uk

To be fair though, like all businesses - all the staff from then have moved on. The current lot haven't bothered us once - hope it continues that way.

Tell you what, who needs enemies when our own fans are willing to do the board’s bidding for them and throw their fellow supporters under the bus. Disgusting reading some of the guff posted against people that are willing to stand up to the absolute vile bullies in the boardroom that have slandered our fanbase over the past month, the fanbase that saved the club last season and ensured they all kept their cushy jobs, and have the cheek to demand a better Everton. You should be ashamed of yourselves.

I believe we had nothing to spend until we sold Gordon. How much of that fee was made available I couldn't possibly answer, but I doubt it was a substantial amount. And we sold him far too late anyway to have a realistic chance of reinvesting.

I don't believe they planned to back the manager, whoever it was. I believe the club is preparing for a sale in the short to medium term.

We have 70 mill in incomings in this financial year mate. Incoming revenue goes directly onto the balance sheet net. We could sign a player for 25 mill, and it would cost us 5 mill in costs this year + wages. In my opinion there was scope to buy - now whether there was intent is a different accusation.

The argument towards this board has been won.

You know it's been won when you have even the likes of Ian Wright, Kevin Campbell and Jamie Carragher saying "Hang on, this isn't on the fans as the board are trying to say. This is the issue here... Everton are the worst ran football club in the country"

The chaos speaks for itself.

Sometimes you can just point, rather than shout.

Don't let them hide behind "those nasty fans wont let us go to a football match".

It gives them an out. A distraction. We don't want to distract from anything other than the complete an utter failings of this board.

Tomorrow, I'll likely have a different opinion.

Last week I certainly did.

For me though, all considered - I'd loathe to allow this board to use fan protests as an excuse/distraction. It's the only card they have left so let's not make it easy for them to play it.

The fan campaign is doing well to continually include the word peaceful protests - they've twigged the board is trying to undermine that perception.

Our wage bill is still massive though so it doesn't matter how much we can spend on actual transfer fees. We are not going to commit to a permanent transfer when we could end up relegated in a few months time. Was always going to be loans imo.

Well that's the key as well - it all needs to be peaceful and sensible. We can't have any more incidents like chasing players cars in the street, or anything daft like someone going on the pitch etc.

But If peaceful protests continue, and I have no reason to believe things can't remain peaceful and calm, then the argument that the protests are a distraction is really not a valid one. The manager and players will get support tomorrow, and although I doubt it will be enough to get a result against a very good side, any protest before or after isn't going to affect our chances. If we lose, it will almost certainly be because Arsenal are a better football team, and top of the league on merit.

My greatest concern is that if the board are sacked Moshiri would replace them with an even more inept bunch of muppets, basing this on the vast majority of his appointments so far.
Need to stay up and get sold.
