14th January will forever be known as our Bastille Day - the day the Everton CEO's head was chopped off by revolutionaries.
Aux armes, ventilateurs,
Formez vos County Road Cutters,
Marchons, marchons !
Sur la route de Goodison,
Que le sang de notre patron
Abreuve nos sillons

*Apologies for the pidgin English, as I haven't written it in ages.

The way that Bill Kenwright and Denise Barrett-Baxendale had their minions brief the press on 14th January, that is exactly what you would think had happened

Smeared the club and it's fans and they had no hesitation in doing so

Indeed was convenient to them

You're both missing the point by a country mile. These players are now tasked with getting goals given the paucity of forwards at the club and so will adapt to that, they'll also be playing for a manager who places great emphasis on set piece goals. That cuts across what we can usually expect from them.

Take a look at the PL record books when you can. It tells you in recent years you can stay up by scoring few goals.

Huddersfield scored just 28 goals and finished 16th five seasons ago; Palace scored 31 goals and finished 14th in 2017/18. And they conceded 50 odd goals.

If we get another say 14 goals and keep it tight at the back we'll stand a good chance of getting safe.
Oh, so they're just suddenly going to start scoring goals and winning games because we really want them to.

Brilliant.

No, I gave a full answer to the question: their roles have changed. They now have the task of sorting it out who's getting up to support what forwards we put out rather than to all wait for the forwards to take care of business. Plenty of teams have had to do that in the past, including Everton.

It's not going to be easy, but we have still to see the 2 up front option and the effect of the manager's policy just stated of looking to everyone to get amongst the goals. We'll have to gamble a bit, but that's where we are...and it's where all those around us are, because apart from Leeds who scored a lot prior to Rodrigo's injury they all have issues with sticking the ball in the net.

Alright, yeah.

These players that haven't been able to hit a barn door their entire careers are going to make up the shortfall because Dyche, of all people, is going to get them sniffing out chances.

Can't wait to see it in action today.

Get a goal and defend it. That's where we are.

28 goals and 31 goals have kept up PL teams in the recent past.

The dual task is to get on the scoresheet and keep our goals conceded total down to around 48-50.

If you think other teams down the bottom are free scoring with forwards capable of firing them out of the mess they're in with us then maybe highlight them.

I've heard they aren't there. If they do attend, it'll be midway through the first half that they'll arrive.
The most cartious of carts. I hope they're all playfully headlocked with Kenwright's playful headlock just a little bit tighter than the others so that his massive head pops.
