The Everton Board Thread

Because nobody else wanted it, it was a mess, much worse then now in every way.
It was even him or basically death under PJ.

Also don't forget the game didn't have the type of money in it that we see these days, 1m players, 4 at a push
You ignore the fact that Kenwright also wanted to buy the club and was a rival bidder to Peter Johnson When Johnson bought it. In fact Johnson won because there was a feeling that Kenwright did not have the money as well then. So its not all about him doing this for the benefit of Everton - he wanted it with what little means he had prior. The guy just wanted to own the club, and he did not care that he did not have the funds. It was just one big ego trip for him.

Yeah I know this, Grantchester was one who backed PJ, I remember that too.
Thing is I agree he just wanted to own us, the same as he doesn't now want to leave, but anyone could of challenged him at anytime, but after the mess PJ made nobody was interested, apart from Kenwright, if he hadn't of done so were would we be now? Floating around with Sheffield Wednesday maybe.

I want Kenwright gone as much as the next fan however.... I want Yanks nowhere near the club.

If its between the current lot and holding firm until a proper buyer comes in who wants to make us a big club again or some vultures looking to make a quick buck off BMD then its the former all day long.

Make no mistake MSP are not our friends.
And its this attitude that has gotten us terrible ownership. Wouldnt want a successful ownership group that turns out good teams to be involved if they are yanks... Despite it being true that there are far more yanks that know what it takes to run a successful team on and off the field than brits, if you want to make a list.

We're they skint?

See the mistake you are making is you thinking about stuff from years ago, many years ago, we had a big reset the day Moshiri came in, so all that counts is were we were on that day, compared to now, which is in a much worse state
Yes because the history of Everton only began when Moshiri bought the club. That is like saying that football didn't exist before the inception of the premier league.

You can't airbrush from history the damage your Bill did before he sold the club.

MSP own stakes in a few clubs in europe - name me any success stories ?

Unfortunately you are going to be waiting for a very long time for a rich knight in shining armour to ride into Goodison who will buy the club and invest in it for philanthropic reasons.

The PL is the richest league in the world, so almost all owners/investors are in it purely for the money. If MSP invest £105m in the club which helps finance the BMD and then decide a couple of years later to sell their shareholding at a profit, who can blame them. Everyone's a winner - we get the stadium and they make a profit. That's just the way it is now.

Ok and during his 18 year tenure he has had interested buyers who did have the funds to make us competitive, but he declined on the basis that he wanted ‘investment’ but not a sale. I think he said something along the lines of ‘you’ll never find a better salesman for Everton Football Club” yet despite club after club being sold and bought in the PL, this self appointed supreme salesman and Evertonian could not find anyone interested - how unusual! Oh and the Sheff Wed point is a retrospective application of the ‘careful what you wish for’ flimsy argument. Even when he does eventually decide to sell up, at which point his hand was forced by the way due to PGs issues, he sells to the wrong buyer….doesn’t say much for his judgment either. History will judge him to be an unmitigated disaster for a once proud football giant.

Mike Ashley or Venkys could do that why not let them come on board ?

Dropping our kecks and spreading the cheeks just for anyone on the hopes that Kenwright may leave when Moshiri remains majority owner still is short sighted.

If you want real change then a full takeover has to happen and it has to be the right owner.

Imagining Moshiri busily working away behind the scenes to eject Kenwright from the Boardroom sounds absolutely preposterous in my head. He owns 94% of the club, it is beyond all logical comprehension to believe that he doesn't have the ability to either elect new Board members or remove existing ones.

Even if, for whatever nonsensical reason, he is unable to do it on a whim - he's had a seven years to lay the groundwork to do so if he was at all interested. Lets not forget, he has had his own people on the Board previously in the form of Sascha Ryastansev, Sarvar Izmailov and probably Marcel Brands too. Three entirely useless individuals notwithstanding, all proof that he is able to make changes at Board level if he feels that way inclined.

And if he is blunted legally, which I find unfathomable, then apply pressure on them and publicly demand their resignations, rather than singing their praises. There are lots of avenues he can take, in the seven long years he's been in situ he hasn't shown the slightest inclination in exploring any of them.

Moshiri is completely irredeemable in my eyes, regardless if he takes out Kenwright or not. I must confess how surprised I am to see so many in this thread willing to forgive the hatchet job he has performed on this club for simply sending an old man to the care home - which he's had 2,549 opportunities to do before now (the number of days he has been majority shareholder).

It's the case . No matter how much you may not think it so.

Recapitalisation. Then ejection.
