The effects of optimism in people are of course different actions in the present. That does not mean it is not based on future events. Assessing, evaluating, with a positive approach is a side effect of optimism, not optimism itself. Better habits and a general positive approach to getting things done in the now in the belief of a better future is the result of optimism, but optimism itself is rooted in how things will turn out. 'Not confined to the future' is doing a lot of heavy lifting there if you think it changes the meaning.I'm going to let AI respond to you on this one;
"Optimism isn't confined to the future. It's about how we assess and respond to the present moment as well. True optimism involves recognizing current realities, processing information in real-time, and maintaining hope and confidence even in the face of challenges. It’s not about blind faith in a better tomorrow; it’s about actively finding opportunities, solutions, and positives in the now, which ultimately shape a better future."

Expectation is at the root of optimism and pessimism and expectation is future focused. How we act in the present based on that is as far as 'not confined' goes. In the same way what we do now is 'not confined' to the present but impacts the future.

Of course the evaluation is based on circumstance, but the circumstance doesn't require great knowledge in all situations because it could be a predisposition to thinking things will turn out fine even if I don't know about them, and though quantum entanglement is a good example of something not many people know about, I could be pessimistic that this unknown scary thing will be bad for us in the future or I could optimistic and believe that our scientists will utilise this knowledge to our benefit. It's a feeling about the future of something.If I asked you "How optimistic are you about...[something you have a absolutely no clue about like quantum entanglement]" you wouldn't be able to answer because you don't have the information. You need to understand something to determine optimism, that understanding comes from information you know now. Examples...
If 777 were owners now, you'd be less optimistic about the summer.
If Everton were 20th now, you'd be less optimistic about the future.
The now clearly impacts optimism for the future. To suggest otherwise is folly.
Alright toes, lay off the sucking upI can confirm @GrandOldTeam grasps the concept for this thread very well indeed.
Our current optimism is because of the guy who has been in charge for two games.The thread is about current optimism.
Currently, we're 16th.
