But this is entitlement is it not? Just because it's expensive won't make everton entertaining every match. It's the same expense for every other fan too so for us to be playing well to entertain another fan is not happy. We are an average to poor side so supporting isn't really about entertainment.
Just my take, as you say it's your money and if you think your kid would get more out a day at alton towers that's your decision to make. Think a weekly/monthly trip there would soon get more boring than a weekly trip to footy though.
It's not entitlement in relation to Everton - but I suppose it's entitlement towards football in general (as @Saint Domingo referenced also)

Where is the value for money in football? People complain about the price of cinema tickets - but for £10 you can be guaranteed entertainment for a couple of hours via a product that has cost millions of pounds to produce and you see that value on the screen

Football has created a model where the product still costs millions of pounds but instead of watching Ryan Gosling in 4K you're watching Jack Harrison tit about for a bit

Was it ever the working mans game? Just how cheap did it used to be compared to nowadays? Was the tipping point the formation of the Premier League and the unregulated increase in player salaries and sponsorship

The matchgoing fans have my utmost respect because I just could not justify spending my limited money on the possibility of not having my weekend ruined

Football for tv audience / neutrals is entertainment.
Football for overseas fans is about winning things
Football for match going fans is torture except for the rich few

Two really good posts in succession.

What has happened to GOT? Give us our Jerry Springer back.

Someone I know works in the front office of a PL club and told me that in this case American owners find it absolutely insane how “little” fans are charged to begin with and because there are so few ways to raise revenue (unless you’re one of the cheats) then, to avoid selling all your best players increasing ticket prices and making European games into a bit of a marketing spectacle is what they do because they know despite protests etc if they’re good they’re still going to sell out.

It’s totally wrong of course but equally they’re the product of an unfair system and everyone involved with and supporting clubs want them to be competitive so it’s such a grey area.

I personally think the sports gone way beyond what it was meant to be and have no interest in watching it continue to become a form of globalised media containing a few brands with the rest there as fodder aimed at casuals watching a stream somewhere which is why I tapped out ages ago

My first EPL game in 10 months on Saturday...

It's only when you try and watch the match back at home how kin awful the football really is.

It's then do you really appreciate the good the bad and ugly of match going faithful.

The fans are great!

In the late 80s, tickets cost between £5-£7 for a seat, with standing being cheaper. With inflation, you're looking at £13-£18 per ticket in today's money.

You could go to the ground, eat and have pints relatively affordably, and I was getting to watch a league winning side for that price - real entertainment.

My ol' man said it could him £1 to go to a final in the 70s, which in today's money is £5(ish), so it is definitely getting more expensive year-on-year, comparatively.

For my son and I to go, our STs cost north of £800 a year, and that is before transport, food, his programme, ale and everything else I spend.

I must be spending well over £1,300 a year for us to watch dross.

It was 50p to get in the ST END early 70s when I first went ,think it was 30p in the boys pen.
Getting to dear now losts wouldn't be able to afford to go every week, but they do sell out so it's not going to change.
I was watching Everton V Sheffield Wednesday in the semi final on YouTube last night , listening to are fans was amazing, I was on the Holte end but forgot the noise that day.

I would not pay 50p to watch Dyches home performances - Hoof Ball - in those days fans voted performances with their feet - attendances dropped & the manager came under pressure - also away game majority were never all ticket & you paid the same amount to get in as the home fans & could choose any part of the ground to stand or sit ..... you got a good view of the game too...

On a more positive note... Beto said the other day that our fans singing his name inspired him to score that equaliser.
What's positive about Beto - ? Yes his goal was welcome, he was crying because he is going back to Italy in January - any solo forward in Dyches set up will struggle ..... our midfield according to our Manager cannot support a 4 4 2 set up yet with Doucs & Harrison we start each game with 9 men .....
Fulham's fault they should have been 3-4 0 up - I was made up we sneaked one point after that showing ..... our support again was very good - not much to cheer about until Betos goal though - our football was poor & we got outplayed .... it was a great move to leading to the goal atm in time we played 4 4 2 .....

Over 3/4 of our seats are STs, which means the club already has the money for the ticket. If you've paid already, it's a more difficult thing to say, 'I ain't going!'

Some Everton fans are embarrassing, especially the ones who were singing keano keano when the dinosaur sent him up front like it's was 1970s again. Some of you actually deserve what we are getting served up at the moment.
And what should we have done?

Trying to encourage a player to do well in a awful performance.

Not sure I understand what you think the options were at that point in the game - please enlighten us.

Maybe we could of changed the shape, maybe we could of tried Beto and Lewin together, maybe try Ndiaye off beto or lewin, maybe push Dacoure further forward, how many options do you want...Encourage a player you say the same player you have groaned and moaned about for 2 years.

You mean like he did against Luton in the cup last season when the pair were disastrous together and were constantly chasing the same balls? No thank you.
