Not that I think Moshiri cant be trusted(just kidding), but I would suggest a one-off comment is not much compared to official statements and records. The article says in response to that:

"Club sources claim that the figure Moshiri quoted is inclusive of every facet of the stadium, from design and planning to construction and even including the potential for further ancillary developments related to the stadium...Club sources also state the the cost of construction has not changed and that the contract signed last year with construction firm Laing O'Rourke, who have been tasked with the build, has not altered and the cost certainty over the project remains as it did."

That seems to clearly say the LOR cost stayed at 505m. The meeting minutes says "Colin confirmed that the funding is there to complete the ground and that there was less than £100m left to fund". He's just saying what portion of the contract is left to fund. We certainly didnt pay them 505m when we signed the contract.

Colin Chong and the club have persistently misled people.

The cost is as I've stated. It's well over £800 million and it'll be over £900 million by the time it's fully kitted

They misled people all the way along. From the Denise Barrett-Baxendale "fixed cost" nonsense to now. I'm not sure why people aren't understanding this or keep disputing it

The Premier League Appeal Board said it was £800 million committed last year!

tbf the pandemic shot up the price of building materials massively so there was always going to be increased costs. Presumably this impacted any agreement as becoming impossible for the contractors to fulfill. I'm only assuming ofc

As far im aware no laws were broken, so i have no particular axe to grind. Business practices are particularly harsh and hard nosed. Its why i chose a career in social care sector.
My main gripe is that he’s had more impressionable Evertonians hanging off his every word as, to be fair to him, he presents himself as the all knowing guru of Everton finance.

The reality, is much different. He wanted another group to take control of Everton because it benefited The Esk and would line his pockets.

As I said originally, motive.

The Ukraine invasion had a bigger impact due to gas price (energy input) price increases that were "pass along costs"

The club have never been transparent on it as can be seen by the constant questioning of it when the Premier League Appeal Board decision included a figure >£800 million in 2023

I've had a gripe with it since the "fixed cost" claim days.

Friedkin Group are the ones that have come in to enable the stadium to be finished. Without them we would be struggling to do so without selling assets and weakening the squad even further. Kudos to Friedkin Group for putting the money up and seeing the club as an investment opportunity

I think Dyche will be supported by a very, very large payout. I do not hate on the man, and I do think he has done exceptionally well to steer us to safety last season, but I also think that this team has shown it is capable of scoring goals and plying football. The fact that we don't is solely down to the management. So I do believe it is time for a change. If that were to happen, I would applaud him as he left.
thought his contract was up this year?

I don’t think they did. It was more than the original cost the club told us but it wasn’t over £800m. you don’t need to change facts to have a go at the club, we know they are shysters.

Really don't think it matters if some fans hang off his every word when it comes to controlling Everton football, caveat being, might matter if they had hundreds of millions to invest. Still cringe now when I heard Goodison erupt with the chant " were fecking rich now". When dear Morishi rucked up.

The club literally told the Premier League Appeals Board it was as of 2023 "over £800 million".

It's mentioned in paragraph 135 section iii of the appeals board decision

“There was uncontested evidence that the new stadium posed an inevitable strain on the finances of the club which has to date committed over £800m to the project.”

This is at the same time thar Chong had told people that it was paradoxically fully funded yet there was "£100 million still to fund" (EFCSA meeting December 2023). Then they took more money from Friedkins after replacing MSP in 2024. As mentioned by Chong in Brighton programme notes in August 2024

Then Friedkins had to come in with yet another £60 million in September 2024

One might say that he misled people.
