I find it quite baffling that - after decades of lurching from one disaster to another - people still somehow believe that things will miraculously get much better just by virtue of one change. Whether it's the owner, the manager, or new players, we should all be well versed enough in Everton by now to know that things are never that simple.

Well that was about 25 years ago itself. It just feels like people are always convincing themselves that one specific thing is holding us back (it was -laughably - Moyes for a while) and once that changes everything will be fantastic. Realistically the club has got a lot of work to do to get to where we want them to be. I don't really envisage the new owners or the new stadium or a new manager completely changing things overnight, and i'm alright with that. What about when Moyes came in?

Because the right ownership does that.I find it quite baffling that - after decades of lurching from one disaster to another - people still somehow believe that things will miraculously get much better just by virtue of one change. Yeah, they've not bought any land at the docks yet Matty. It just says they allegedly want to.
but they will mate.
im confident as ashley
young is crap
Your confident they will buy land around BMD because Ashley Young is crap ?
Didn’t know Ashley Young abilities playing football has that much if an influence
Royle was the last manager who brought us success. What about when Moyes came in?
Things can quickly change, look at Villa under Emery - Gerrard was taking them down and now they're in the CL.
When Moyes took over West Ham they were going down and within a few seasons they'd had a few years in Europe and a trophy.
I’m not being too literal really, of course new ownership could be the catalyst for a new era. My point was more that we’ve been here before as have many other clubs, and I think some people are setting themselves up for a fall by seeing the takeover as the end of all our problems. In one way I’m adding a healthy dose of ‘Everton that’ but in another I’m being serious. The context of my post was important, the friedkins already own a club and it’s not been all sunshine and rainbows there, it seems sensible to use that as a reference point of what to expect.Because the right ownership does that.
Im a fan of a team bought by part of the group that owns Crystal Palace. Dreadful ownership before then. In one year that team has gone from a laughingstock to talk of the league. It will obviously take longer in the premier league but the amount of impact ownership and good leadership make, and what trickles down, cannot be overestimated. One change at RB is one change. One change at the top is 1000 changes.
