I find it quite baffling that - after decades of lurching from one disaster to another - people still somehow believe that things will miraculously get much better just by virtue of one change. Whether it's the owner, the manager, or new players, we should all be well versed enough in Everton by now to know that things are never that simple.

What about when Moyes came in?

Ultimately, we can't begin to heal, until this saga is finally over.

Who knows how the Friedkin's will perform? It could be a roaring success, or it could epicly fail.

But what we know is they vastly improved Roma's turnover, they spent more and have explored a new stadium, which has a green light

But the clubs a mess. You're right, them being appointed should be the closure. They need to make a strewth of changes to make the club fully close the door on the Ex-Chairman and current owner's reign.

Then put their own stamp on the club. Let's hope it's better, but there's a long road to recovery ahead.

Well that was about 25 years ago itself. It just feels like people are always convincing themselves that one specific thing is holding us back (it was -laughably - Moyes for a while) and once that changes everything will be fantastic. Realistically the club has got a lot of work to do to get to where we want them to be. I don't really envisage the new owners or the new stadium or a new manager completely changing things overnight, and i'm alright with that.

Things can quickly change, look at Villa under Emery - Gerrard was taking them down and now they're in the CL.

When Moyes took over West Ham they were going down and within a few seasons they'd had a few years in Europe and a trophy.

Because the right ownership does that.

Im a fan of a team bought by part of the group that owns Crystal Palace. Dreadful ownership before then. In one year that team has gone from a laughingstock to talk of the league. It will obviously take longer in the premier league but the amount of impact ownership and good leadership make, and what trickles down, cannot be overestimated. One change at RB is one change. One change at the top is 1000 changes.

Apparently they are big fans of Dyche after a meeting the other month.

Contract extension as soon as the takeover is done.

Your jarg wumming was better in your old account mate

I’m not being too literal really, of course new ownership could be the catalyst for a new era. My point was more that we’ve been here before as have many other clubs, and I think some people are setting themselves up for a fall by seeing the takeover as the end of all our problems. In one way I’m adding a healthy dose of ‘Everton that’ but in another I’m being serious. The context of my post was important, the friedkins already own a club and it’s not been all sunshine and rainbows there, it seems sensible to use that as a reference point of what to expect.
