Is the golf just a normal 4 round stroke play tournament? A more team-oriented best ball or alternate shot format may have been better

Why is there a separate men and womens event. Surely the physical differences of the sexes has no relevance to whether you can shoot straight?
Come to think of it why on earth are men and women's crown green bowls separate? Surely women can be just as good as men at this sport? They have mixed gender chef competitions after all.
