Your last line sums it up and points out why even your reaction is still an overreaction.

This is a guy who in his wife's words is a "feminist" he's done loads for women's cycling, his family has done loads for woman's cycling, he's not long had a public spat with the male only barbers in liverpool.

Many people including myself who are already there in equality see things like this as harmless because we already look at things regardless of gender.

If Claire Balding was treated using the values then her question of George North live would be more offensive and reinforces gender stereotypes just as much if not more but I've not seen a single peep about that. It's been seen as a harmless fun question in exactly the way it should be.

Honestly it's really not much of a deal, but I just think it's worth mentioning and pointing out. Let's not forget I said I "winced", not "burned an effigy".

I know its 3-0 but the Honduran keeper looks solid. He's pretty fearless and was excellent during the SK match and keepers have emerged from the middle of nowhere. It wouldn't hurt to pick up a guy like that and stash him in the reserves/loans for a couple years and see what you got. At the very least I think you can find a way to get 100-200K for him.

Mate, you're just pandering to the twitter mob that loves to get offended by just about anything.

It was a nothing comment. Its surprising these days that men are even allowed to talk to women the way the twitter mob behave.

@joey_macmo this is another perfect illustration.

John Inverdale got corrected by Andy Murray.

BIG DEAL. It is a nothing issue. Innocent discussion about sport and really show's Inverdale's lack of knowledge about Tennis than 'sexism'

I honestly despair at the times we live in.

@joey_macmo another example of the twitter mob getting offended by something entirely innocent. This time calling Ellen DeGeneres racist for this:

Getting utterly ridiculous this nonsense.

Sure that Usain Bolt laughed himself. Since he's known as the fastest man on earth.

.....historically, a large % of GB Olympians were from private education and red brick university backgrounds. That is still probably true for the likes of rowing, sailing and rugby but it is clear from interviews with cyclists and gymnasts that lottery funding has opened opportunities for the masses. Lots of young people with diverse accents is great to see, long may it continue.

Clearly we're not going to agree mate, but as I've said there's something between an overreaction and no reaction.

The Ellen example you gave seems a complete farce on my opinion. But that has nothing to do with this and doesn't mean any comment with sexist undertones or implications is immediately ripe to be ignored, forgiven and labelled fuel for some mythical twitter mob (for the record I have never even used twitter...)

Hockey is decent. Can't see what's going on loads of the time but it's fun.

i agree and they are mental when they hit the ball off the ground. I can remember getting hit by a hockey ball at school and it bloody well hurt. I wouldn't want one coming at my body how hard they hit with just a stick to stop it.

Anyway up the GB women, playing well so far.
