The Games of the XXXI Olympiad - Russian Free Zone TBF

If you look at the boxing results from last night and the night before you will find it is not a Russian free zone.
Cheating is alive and well and thriving in amateur boxing.

Howling at that classless Frenchman on the podium last night crying his eyes out at having to settle for silver.

What a classless buffoon.

Real disappointing with the lack of crowds at the athletics track.
Thought they doing a boycott of these Olympics, then saw the full house at the football. I know there's a lot of poverty in Brazil, but also a lot of wealth. Terrible support for all other events.

You can't absolutely sanitise absolutely everything.

He said she was his partner's cook. An allusion to traditional gender roles. No harm done really. She'd probably tell him STFU and laugh.

Honestly. We're turning into Americans. Tearing shreds for no reason.

See how they've treated their gymnasts and/or how some of their athletes (female soccer) have behaved.

Turning everything into a microcosm of them selves instead of enjoying the Olympic event.

Its easy to say as a bloke like. 99% of the people who moan about people being easily offended are straight white males.

Don't think people should be hung out to dry for slips of the tongue but it's worth pointing out to remind people that it's not okay. Doesn't matter what their relationship is like in private, if you're the voice millions are hearing back home as people are witnessing such inspirational sporting achievement, then you have certain responsibilities. Little things like that help permeate prejudiced, deep rooted notions that many people hold.

Quite frankly Laura Trott has done more in 24 years than most (including me ffs) will ever do in their entire lives, so it makes me glad to see young women gain another female role model. And it makes me sad to see her achievement diminished or reduced, however minimally or unintentionally, so soon after her being on the podium.

Tldr ; There's something in between overreaction and no reaction. Slip of the tongue from a broadcaster, but worth pointing it out as both Laura Trott and Jason Kenny are ace, regardless of gender.

Your last line sums it up and points out why even your reaction is still an overreaction.

This is a guy who in his wife's words is a "feminist" he's done loads for women's cycling, his family has done loads for woman's cycling, he's not long had a public spat with the male only barbers in liverpool.

Many people including myself who are already there in equality see things like this as harmless because we already look at things regardless of gender.

If Claire Balding was treated using the values then her question of George North live would be more offensive and reinforces gender stereotypes just as much if not more but I've not seen a single peep about that. It's been seen as a harmless fun question in exactly the way it should be.

I think it was more to do with being booed when getting on the podium to collect his silver medal when he hadn't done anything wrong.

Bit of booing. Lol.

He looked like an arrogant get in that pole vault event. I also remember him trying to psyche out the Brazilian lad in the head to head by disrupting his preparation for a jump.

A case of if you cant stand the heat stay out of the kitchen.

Didn't see that bit but saw him getting booed as well when he was going for his final vault to match the Brazilian. All a bit disrespectful if you ask me.
